The BBC stuck some tracking equipment and a big logo on the side of a shipping container and tracked it for a year.  They're done, and the final coverage is on their site here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8314116.stm

I thought it was a neat idea that spawned a number of interesting articles.
