So here I find myself looking at another laptop.  I just got a Sony Vaio from Sams (VGN-NW238F) and just don't really care for it too much.

I am thinking of getting a Gateway NV5207u  http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Laptop+with+AMD+Athlon%26%23153%3B+X2+Dual-Core+Processor+-+Coffee+Brown/9548643.p?id=1218122584574&skuId=9548643

Or a Gateway NV5425u http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101196&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Notebooks-_-Gateway-_-34101196

The only real difference between the two is the top one has a 667MHZ @ 1mb  BUS and the bottom one has an 800MHZ @ 1mb.

I am pretty much lost when it comes to the BUS speeds and what the differences are.   Will I notice a real speed difference between the two?   I will be running Windows 7.......................

Do yourself a favor stay away from Gateway.

Radically different systems.  One is AMD based, the other is Intel.

Personally I'd avoid Crateway notebooks, that company is this close " " to going chapter 7, and their support sucks a huge amount of cock.

Differences in the bus speed is due to differences in the processors.
But that is like mixing apples and oranges.
Yes, with the same processors a different bus speed would make a difference but with different processors the only real measure of performance is a comparison of different applications speeds in various areas.
Have'nt looked at stuff in a few months but Intels top CPU's edge out the AMD's.

Interesting to know.

I have  two Gateway MX7120's that have been more than perfect.

I would like a 15.6? wide screen but the downside to that is most have the cramped keyboard with the number pad on the right.   I would rather not have that.........

I could always down to a 14.1" screen but I may regret that........................

go after toshiba.  there are four of them in my house, two at work and two at my parents.  ive busted one screen through my own stupididty and fried one after my cat knocked off the couch in the middle of the night and it landed heat vent down and got toasty.  NEVER had ANY hardware issues at all with any of them.  im currently on this:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=5263998&sku=A72-160002&srkey=a355d

and it does anything ive thrown at it save high end gaming.  for the money they cant be beat

All of this aside, does the BUS speed really make a difference regardless of what processor it is?
Is it something I should look for a higher number?
