Because of Apple's restrictive operating system, or so says Adobe:

Nope.

From what I've read, Adobe wants/has/whatever to develop a flash add-on for the iPhone, Apple is the one who says it isn't needed. Go figure, I think it's a pain not having it.

Duh, the graphic explained it.

Apple sticking to the same marketing strategy that killed the betamax.

No flash and java because free apps could then be written, thus competing with the apps store.

kinda like how your cable company rapes you on internet access because it competes with their PPV

Hmmm never thought of it that way .... that's absolutely the answer though.

Flash is pretty CPU-intensive.  Allowing access to flash-laden websites would slow the iPhone to a crawl and ruin the "it just works" environment that Apple sells.

Ever have a flash game open in the background on a laptop and have the fans kick on as it idles?

Flash can be a huge power & processor draw

Apple coming out with a phone with a 15 minute battery life would not have gotten good reviews

Flash Professional CS5 will enable you to build applications for iPhone and iPod touch using ActionScript 3. These applications can be delivered to iPhone and iPod touch users through the Apple App Store.*

A public beta of Flash Professional CS5 with prerelease support for building applications for iPhone is planned for later this year. Sign up to be notified when the beta starts.

As previous posters said, it's a very processor-intensive application.

Also, Apple doesn't allow anything that can load scripts to make it to the AppStore - ostensibly for
security/performance reasons, but also obviously because that opens up all kinds of thing they can't control.  I'm sure
the jailbreak community will come out with it evenually.
