Easy question, if you had 60k what would you buy with it?

I would buy phyical gold. Then I would look for the correct piece of property.

It might take a year to research, to learn how to buy land and what to look for.

I would also buy some digging equipment.

Pay off car, student loans and CC.  Buy Lexus IS350 and then put the rest in the bank.

That would absolve me of debt.

Then I would spend the remainder on house, getting it finished and my garage built.

hookers a blow? It's up there on my list.

A machine gun? Yup... that's a good one.

I'd say a machine gun, ammo, and then hookers and blow with what's left.

Pay off any debt and make a down payment on a house. I'd stick 20k in a savings account in case of unemployment.

Pay off the little bit of student loans I have, then pay for the rest of my school. Then I would save/live off the rest until I find a job. Then once the paychecks start rolling in, I'd get a new gun or three and a shit load of ammo. Also cans.

house, that would be a hell of a downpayment

I'd pay off the 25k in student loans between my wife and I, which is the last non-mortgage debt we have and invest the rest in something non stock market related.  Probably silver, brass, and lead.

Better spend it all on the necessities before it becomes worthless.

I'd buy a motherload of TP, reloading supplies, food and water.

If I had 60K, I would put 25K on my mortgage here, and 25K for a down payment on a house in Alaska. The last 10K I would use to finish the things I want to do to my guns, and buy some ammo and long term storage food items.

ETA: My parents neighbor who has asked me out a couple of times, just got a check for 500K last week. My parents are asking me if she looks any more attractive now. I told them nope.

I don't know why everyone is responding with "land."  Even properly leveraged, 60k is not going to buy much.

The only way I would try to become a land baron is if I had 10's of millions to spend, thousands of contiguous acres at a time.

I wouldn't be buying land for investment purposes. I'd be buying it simply to get the hell out of NJ

A  piece of land that is just far enough out of town, but close enough to reach 1/2 hour from home.

It also has 1000 yards of property behind it that I could quite easily build a private shooting range on, and not worry about. It backs on to the St johns river basin, so my buddies and myself could shoot, hunt, play with our airboats, camp, shoot, hunt.......

Deer...hogs..turkey...gators.

Got my eye on it, just don't have the 60K to seal the deal.

(snip) .

Because even a paltry 60k will buy you enough land to get people far enough away that they aren't up your ass and down your throat 24hours a day?
