Sorry, Ponyboy, my card playing expertise is limited to "Go Fish", so I never considered Rounders.

Longest Day sounds good, real good.

Thanks, and keep the suggestions coming.

I already have a few of the mentioned films on VHS.  I will replace them with DVD's slowly (things like Toy Story, Zorro, SPR, etc.).  Right now, I'mm collecting Ideas for my next (in a couple months) buying binge.

Pulp Fiction-a necessity
Alien and Aliens-only these, second 2 sucked
Predator-great Arnold film
True Lies-ditto
Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels-Just like Snatch, but came out first
A Better Tomorrow-the film that made John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat household names in China
A Better Tomorrow II-Unbelievable action sequence at the end, great fights all round
Clerks- F**kin' hilarious!
The Usual Suspects-Great caper film
Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness-because you already have Evil Dead, and these 2 are even better
Pitch Black-a scifi horror movie that's actually scary.  well, sort of.
Memento- excellent psychological thriller
Run Lola Run-but only if you don't mind subtitles

BUt it seems as though you have a hell of a collection already.  But then again, it's an addiction, not a hobby.

AFARR...happy to see your list includes the requisite Searchers.  All other listings are superfluous.  Around here some folks won't allow a person to marry into their family until they have successfully answered questions about that movie.

What do people see in this movie?  Please tell me it's only the 3 minute scene where Travolta has the a.d. due to the car hitting a bump in the road.  Though I nearly died laughing about that scene the rest of the movie was COMPLETE GARBAGE!!!!

I would highly recommend the "Fifth Element."  It's a great movie with great sound and picture.  It is my demo disc for my surround sound system.  I would also get at least the first Jurassic Park.  It was a great movie.

Remember the scene in Platoon where Sgt. Elias removes a bunch of useless junk from Chris' gear while they are on patrol?  OK, here are some rules for removing DVDs from your list.  Use the removed DVDs for skeet shooting targets.

(1) Anything with II, III, IV, or V in the title.

(2) Anything with a dramatic role by Sylvester Stallone, Keanu Reeves, Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Penelope Cruz, or Jennifer Lopez.

(3) Anything concerning high school parties, or college fraternities or sororities.

(4) Anything where the theme song is sung by Jon Bon Jovi, or Celine Dion.

I'm sure there are other good rules, but these will get you started.

HEY HEY
HEY!!!!!!!!!!
I see you own RED DAWN,however, you lack the one film which got me into  firearms in the first place altogether.....to me it's the ultimate SHTF survival story..
George Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD.
It will make you  do funny things, like check your ammo count, and stay away from large windows. It's about two Philly SWAT troopers and a news reporter and her helicopter flying fiance,as they try to survive in a world where society has begun to collapse. Some AR-15s as well in the movie, but they seem to be .22lr or something.

Christ, you have "Laser Mission"!?! Damn, "Laser Mission"?!? What a crappy movie! I can only assume you are either a die-hard Brandon Lee fan or got it along with a $10 bill for your trouble. If you are a Lee fan (like me), then you need Crow, Showdown in Little Tokyo, and Rapid Fire (Not sure if this is on DVD yet). You are also short a few Bruce Lee films. Check out "Driven" with Marc Dacascos if it is on DVD, damn good martial arts in that one. You are strong on Woo, Eastwood, and Shane Black (you must know who he is, you have at least 3 movies he has written), but weak on Schwarzeneggar (no Conan?), Cameron (Terminator 1, Abyss), and Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn). You are also missing one of the better Westerns in the past 20 years, TOMBSTONE!!!!! You may dig the Criterion "Seven Samurai", all the action movies you like started with that one. VERY good commentary. No anime on your list, but I guess you don't swing that way. "Princess Monoke" or "Akira" might change your mind. Well, that should get you started :)

You left out "Apocolypse Now". I think there's a special director's cut edition DVD now available. Despite the fact that Martin Sheene is in the lead role, it's still a good flick. Probably the last (only?) good one he was ever in.

"Apocolypse Now" is to war flicks what "Blade Runner" is to sci-fi films.

I highly recommend...

Freeway (Reese Witherspoon)
Boondock Saints-an absolute MUST

Edited because I sadly will never watch my favorite movie "Apocolypse Now" again because of that lame-ass Martin Sheen's anti gun politics.  You have to vote with your dollars.

DVDTracker,

That's not a bad list.  But get rid of "Days of Thunder" and "Top Gun".  They both contain Tom Cruise and therefore suck royally. [;)]

As an old timer I feel it is my duty to mention some old classics to add to your list:

The Goldfather
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence
The Quiet Man
The Shootist
Mr. Roberts
Run Silent, Run Deep
The Thing (original)
John Carpenter's The Thing
The Graduate
The Sting
Cool Hand Luke

Get everything done by John Ford and John Carpenter.  They're all excellent.
