That was probably me.  I was trying to keep those damn f$*#^@! deer of my roses - giant rats with long legs is what they are!!


You can actually buy these at Loew's or Home Depot.  They do cost about $60.  I think the company was called something like "haveahart" or something like that?

Here's the problem - they worked fine in principle, but were not very durable.

The first one I bought, the motion detector didn't work right.  I returned it and got another one.  On this one, the motion detector worked, but the sprinkler head was defective.  When I returned that, I got one that worked fine - for about 2 weeks, and then it broke.

While it worked, it kicked ass!  You can adjust the sensitivity, and when I had it figured out, it scared the deer off.  My neighbor told me that deer jumped the fence into their yard on several occasions when my sprinkler spooked them.

So the conclusion:  Great idea that works - but poor implementation with bad production quality.
