Hey, I could use everyone's help in figuring out what this is and who might have made it.  It was found behind a wall with two 400 year old Japanese Swords, so I'm assuming its old.  It appears to have a mirrorish finish somewhat like chrome, although pitted heavily in places.  The bottom hilt seems to be hammer forged as well as the imprecise "spikes" on the handguard.  If anyone has a guess, I'll willing to hear it, even if the design points to a certain region, I'd like to hear your thoughts!

I forgot to mention that the handle was missing, so I don't have info relating to it, but the triangular "blade/spike" is solid all the way through to the hilt as you can see.

It's a "trench knife". It looks like a do it your self type it probably had a leather or wood grip at one time. I have no idea what it would be worth. Due to the fact that amature armorers made many of them there are a lot of variations on a common design which is based on a knife or triangular blade and a grip guard used for punching, smashing and grateing.

Anyone else having problems seeing it?

Looks exactly like several WW1 trench knives I have seen. Brit or US. Right down to the knuckledusters and the triangular blade.
Value, @ $100-150, last ones I saw a few years back.
This may be an earlier version, if handmade, that the WW1 ones copied.
But the plating indicates 100 years old or less.

Definately hand made, the hammer marks give it away, as well as imprecise shaped knuckledusters.  I'm still tryint to figure out if it was plated or whether that is what is left of a high polish, considering it is not peeling or flaking, just merely pitted.
