I swear people are fucking retarded.

My wife just told me that she got an email from her cousin asking if her 13 year old daughter could borrow my wife's Hooter's costume.  My wife, who was uncomfortable with contributing to such a thing, told her that she didn't have it anymore.  Good on her.

But, seriously??  She even has a father at home, so there is no divorce, missing dad situation.  Unless he hadn't heard yet.  I'm fairly open in regards to things, but I do not think a 13yr old should be dressing up as a Hooter's waitress.  I have NO problems with hooters, or kids even going, but this is just too much.  I don't have a daughter, but I have a niece, and my best friend has a little girl my son's age that I've known for 8yrs.  If either one of them, which they wouldn't, allowed something like that, I would kick them in the nuts myself.

Wasn't there just a thread about a complete lack of self respect in today's young female population?  Just more evidence.

Based on what I've seen the last 5 years or so, "Hooker" is the only costume available for girls in the 12-15 year old range.  Sad.

To have self-respect, you have to define what is respectable.

To know what is respectable, you must place value on actions and ideas.

If you place good value on some actions and ideas, but not others, you are judging between them as to what is good.

The highest value currently within our culture is "do not judge."

Their role models are glorified sex objects so it's no wonder.

I was in a lingerie shop last weekend, along for pretty boring bra and boy shorts shopping and 2 highschool girls were in there trying on halloween costumes.

Think the first Britney Spears video minus 50% of the material.

No joke, the mom was cool with  getting frilly underwear that'd show under their skirts.

no doubt. missus and I went to Halloween USA for parts of our costumes, and the youth section for girls looked like the "adult" section for women.

Which, technically, it will.

Hell, I don't think its costume.  If go to the mall, it seems to have become everyday attire.  What is even more troubling is that in the age group you listed, they are too young to have jobs, so that would almost mean the parents paid for their daughters to look that way.  If my sister would have never been able to have dressed the way these girls do nowadays.  For one, my dad and mom wouldn't have laid out their cash for it, and even if my sister would have taken allowance money or Christmas money and bought the clothes, the minute my parents saw it, it would have been placed on the grill and burnt.
