What part of "Congress shall pass no law..." do they not understand? Obviously the same part that doesn't understand "...shall not be infringed."

This has been the source of all my frustration...............

on a lighter note take a look at this -- it just popped into my head.

I was watching the debate and following procedural vote on C-Span, as it happened.  I found it LESS than entirely amusing how so many of these elected representatives could find it within themselves to vote against the amendment that would have removed the constitutional violation from the bill when other members had just minutes before risen to call attention to the fact that the bill was a clear violation of the First Amendment without the amendment to it that was proposed.

The voting record is a matter of public record. I think it's time to fire off some letters to all who voted against the modified version.

That was a procedural vote, by the way.  A quorum wasn't even present, and as things stand this isn't law.

I predict that the offensive, First Amendment violating language in the proposed bill will NOT be included in the form that passes both the House and Senate.

Watch C-Span and C-Span 2 when they're on and covering activities in the House and Senate.  It's fascinating, but much like watching sausage being made.   Creepy, yet entertaining.

A.) I won't pass the senate ( I hope, they need 60 votes ) and there are at least three senetors who said that they would philibuster it.

B.) In the form that might pass Bush won't sign it. ( Hopfully )

Not to mention that it would go down in flames in the SCOTUS.

All right everyone, direct that anger into action.  You can easily write your local Rep. through the online service at the congressional web site.  Let them know how you feel, these people are supposed to represent us, not speak what they "think" we want.  Act now!!

Congressman Doggett,

I am most upset that you voted against the First Amendment rights of your voters.  The provision in the current campaign finance reform bill that prevents organizations from publishing ads about candidates 60 days prior to poll time is a direct violation of the First amemdment.  I understand that this is directed at special interst groups, but where do the funds for these groups come from?  From the members of their respective organizations.  Preventing the common people from banding together in a collective interest and voicing their concerns about issues pertaining to a candidate for office is not only in direct violation of the Constitution, but morally wrong.  I can only hope that you change your position, for as of now, I do not consider you a true repesentative of the people.

Thank you for your time.

This is what I sent to my local Socialist
