What about these survey results? The majority prefer a Daschle socialistic approach?  Enlargement of a federal law enforcement community? Criminalizing check in at airports?
I don't fly anymore because of federal security at airports. Security should have been left in the hands of local private industry with law enforcement(local) backup when warranted. A centralized federal force is subject to corruption which probably aided 911. And Citizens travelling with firearms are going to have big problems with these federal cats who really don't the juridictional authority.

corruption is not the exclusive province of government. "local private industry" can be plenty corrupt.

"local private industry" has already fumbled the airport security ball repeatedly. loathe as i am to endorse further federal involvement, more stringent oversight is plainly required.
