So I was about to head out to the land and kept telling myself, go get your Desert eagle with your thigh holster to carry around, but was too lazy and didnt. FAIL on my part

As I was out there walking around the tank fishing, half assed, and decided I would go see if I could catch something on the other side.

I made it past all the rocks and trees and was about to be at the waters edge when I looked down to find a massive adrenaline dump

My first thought was, oh look a snake, I wonder if its poisonouse? immeadiately followed by, YES Im pretty sure it is.

Turned out to be a 3-4 foot cotton mouth. And THANKFULLY he wasnt hostile

Just two more steps and Im sure he would have been attatched to the side of my leg

I load .45 Long Colt shot loads for just such occasions. Works great on copperheads, too.

Yes, there are.
The term poisonous snake is mostly incorrect—poison is inhaled or ingested whereas venom is injected.[57] There are, however, two exceptions—Rhabdophis sequesters toxins from the toads it eats then secretes them from nuchal glands to ward off predators, and a small population of garter snakes in Oregon retains enough toxin in their liver from the newts they eat to be effectively poisonous to local small predators such as crows and foxes.[58]
