Back then racist whites were worried about those Negroes and immigrants owning guns.

Today racist blacks worry about those Negroes and immigrants owning guns.

The more things change, the more they stay the same....

Dude, if it was on Drudge 7 seconds ago, it's already a dupe.

This has had 128 years. I'm guessing it's also a dupe.

And they still travel to Harrisburg each year to argue against preemption.

Can't we just give Philadelphia to Camden already...then BOMB it?

My uncle has a reprint of a Sear's Roebuck and Sons catalog from 189?.  It proudly proclaimed that it could mail you a handgun to your door no questions asked unless you lived in Illinois, where you had to mail in three references or some other such horse squeeze.

I went to Philadelphia with my family once. It was a filthy city with run-down infrastructure and areas of town that I would go to only if I had an AR and about 30 magazines of ammo.

I had chances to go back, but won't.

What a cesspool.

I deliver loads to this town.

And I've seen the places that I felt damned unsafe in.  Id rather go there than Trenton, Newark, or Atlanta though.

I live in the outskirts of Philly and work in Center City, and "cesspool" is exactly how I describe it to others.

Lots of urban decay, lots of corruption, lots of violence.
...but our soft pretzels are AWESOME.

And how's our current capitol doing in the cesspool department?

So I was just thinking...

Where were the legal eagles back in the day when stuff like this happened?  Was it ever challenged in court?  It seems to me, that if more of this kind of crap was banned (these unconstitutional laws and proclamations) we would be much better off today.

I don't think you understand what the era of machine politics was like...  You did NOT go against the grain.  I'm not saying that you'd be sleeping with the fish, but you'd never work in that town again.

Today, we wonder how Jim Crow was in full force for many decades.  In many respects, fighting 'the man' is a modern thing.
