Took the cameras to Antietam yesterday and came home with a pile of photos. you can see the rest athttp://www.pbase.com/bowman1/antietam
The bloody cornfield is fallow this year. Those are beans in the background though.

Awesome - to look at those bucolic scenes and remember the amount of blood spilled and the carnage there. Seems very surreal now.
One day I hope to make a tour of the remaining battlefields. Many, like the site of Burnside's assault of Marye's Heights in Fredricksburg are mostly gone and built over. |

Thanks for the photo kudos everyone. Going to Antietam is a sobering experience at any time of year, but it is more so in mid-September. The anniversary of the battle was last Thursday, so I can only imagine what it must have been like 147 years ago to the day of my visit.
All the photos are digital, but one of the cameras I used has been converted over to full time infrared by a company called Lifepixel. |

Great color pics.
Though as for the others, I have never understood the fascination with Infrared anymore than monochrome in a color film era. Call me an artistic barbarian. |
