I saw a video about this once.  I think it ranks up there with viking funerals in that I wouldn't mind be "buried" that way, but good luck finding someone who will cut up your body and feed it to some birds.

I'm sure you can find someone in Liberty City that would do it for free.

That's my guess.

The man is obviously very dead so it's not to stop him from moving around or anything.

I'd say so, since the hearse was a Honda 250.

It actually makes great sense.
Fuel is at a premium, being above timberline, and the ground can't be dug easily, due to the permafrost.
They are Buddhists, and so believe the body is an empty shell after death, and the spirit reincarnates.
Vultures gotta eat too.

Don't let me die in an automobile

I wanna lie in an open field

Want the snakes to suck my skin

Want the worms to be my friends

Want the birds to eat my eyes

As here I lie

It's part of the ritual. The whole process is very fascinating, with the prayers that are read to the body in the days after passing. Tibetan buddhists believe that there is an interim period after death where the soul has not yet left this realm, and by reciting prayers it helps the soul pass along.

Some of the plain's Indians do something similar minus the cutting 'em up part.  The body gets placed on a raised platform.

Zoroastrians have a similar belief.   On death the body is inhabited by evil spirits.   Burning or burying the body would pollute the elements, so the bodies are left exposed to be eaten by birds.

Tower of silence.

Sure I would go for that. Makes more sense than spending thousands of dollars on caskets and burial vaults so you can rot for fifty years and waste a plot of land for eternity. FWIW I would like to be tossed in a hole sans casket and have a tree planted over my grave. I figure thats the way it should happen. I can go back into the Earth I came from and the tree could serve as a marker for any who wished to visit. That however to the best of my knowledge would not be legal so instead I will be cremated.

Yeah, the whole 'fill the corpse with explosives and blow it up' thing actually doesn't work very well. As they found out with a whale on the Oregon coast.

My favorite video clip is the part right after the whale blows up and you can here some one scream 'Oh my God!' as rotten whale chunks fall out of the sky. http://www.theexplodingwhale.com/evidence/the-video/

sky burial is a low input stream method, and it's rather environmentally efficient.

Its easy to see the vultures are happy with the arrangement.

Staking the carcass down, appears to keep the body parts from flying away.

Oh dear, there's parts of a dead Bishop on the landing....

I can't see feeding wild hogs, gators or irate weasels in a similar manner to be acceptable though...

I think i will add a sky burial to my Zombie apocalypse movie.

I wonder what the rights to "Feeding the Birds" from Mary Poppins will cost me?

That's pretty cool. The only thing I have a problem with is when he is breaking up the bones and cracking open the skull so he can remove the brain so the birds can eat it along with the bone marrow.

When cremated I want my ashes spead over Wrigley Field on a wet, windy day when a game is taking place. Fuck the Cubs and their fans.

I'd be cool with it––-if nothing else, you're making one more person miserable as you go!  Or at least somewhat queasy.
