I have always seen the importance of having a size-reducing stock on my go-to SHTF rifle/shotgun.

My SHTF rifle has always been an AK variant. I currently have it outfitted with a side folding "wire stock" but its uncomfortable as hell, and I kinda want a solid stock. I really hate to give up the size-reducing ability of the folding stock though.

How many of you guys use some sort of foldable or collapsible stock on your SHTF long arm? Im trying to convince myself that a solid stock would be okay, but it doesnt seem nearly as compact or portable.

Theres really only one "solid" folding stock for the AK, but its ridiculously expensive and I dont plan on buying one.

I want a collapsible stock on all my ARs. I like the fact that I can shoot with a t shirt or a thick ass coat and it be the same.

I live in a free state, so yes. Collapsible M4 stock. I'll upgrade that to a Magpul ACS as soon as they release it for a commercial tube.

Nope...

1 Colt SP-1 20 incher(Think AR-15A1 without the forward assist).

1 Bushmaster XM-15E2(Think Ar-15A2 with heavy ass barrel under the handguards)

1 M1A "Loaded" "a Weapon of Iron and Wood, with a girls name, and i am faithful!!"

No High speed lots of shit to drag and break and have dead batteries in!

AKS-74 took the place of my M4gery as my SHTF gun. Just as accurate as an AR (standard), and alot more reliable.

The Polish and Romanian (the better ones) wire stocks are the only ones that use the standard trunion AND fold to the right. The solid stocks that fold to the left like this:

are nice, but make storage more difficult because their widths add to the width of the standard profile plus the charging handle. You end up just keeping them out full time. Underfolders are the best for storage, but the worst for shooting. The Hungarian AMD 65 wire stock is a decent choice, BUT it uses a rear trunion custom to it (as does the Krink type pictured) and doesn't seem as robust as the Polish/Romanian ones.

The nice thing about your situation, is that you have the standard trunion, so buy a fixed stock and try it out.

IMO, uncomfortable folding stocks are uncomfortable sending many rounds down range on a nice shooting day. I doubt soldiers under fire really consider the discomfort at all...

I would rather be focusing on my target at the earliest opportunity than screwing around with fucking pins and hinges and folding grips and phased plasma triple sights and bi-pods that destroy more coffee cups than people and throwing a white flag because batteries just went dead or it's a grounding problem because the batteries are new and I don't know WTF is happening and I need a time-out to get my shit working and this is not the way things are supposed to happen....

You only have it folded when you need to discreetly carry it. If you are expecting trouble or in a situation where open carry is not a problem, then have it unfolded and ready to go. Sure, you might not actually need the folding option, but it is definitely nice to have just in case. After all, isn't that the purpose of SHTF preps, to be ready just in case?

By the way, my folded Krink, that I posted a picture of above, can fit in a laptop bag, briefcase, or on my lap in a vehicle with a small blanket or something over it. Having more options certainly doesn't hurt anything

top folding shotgun stock and it is also a SBS with a 12 inch barrel if I need something really compact.

a 10.5 inch barrel SBR AR15 with 6 pos tele stock, for rifle power. and fairly compact storage / transport.

the rest are regular size guns.

NICE KRINK!

It is kinda ugly now, but it is a very practical rifle. The biggest improvement is the extended safety selector tab I riveted on. I can now work the safety on and off with just my pointer finger while my hand remains on the pistol grip.

AR-15 will have a telescopic stock on it. Don't see the point to folding stocks.

Yes. CTRs on both ARs, carbine and rifle. I won't own an AR without a collapsible stock. I have a Romanian side folder on the AK.

Ahh if I had a shtf gun it would be a toss up between my cheap m4gery (collapsible stock)...or my more expensive SPR.. with a fixed stock. I'd be ok with either but the m4gery is more versatile. Ideally I could take a few guns...

Depends on what type of SHTF. Zombie? TEOTWAWKI? Mad squirrel disease? I have a collapsible stock on my AR and a folding stock on my bolt gun (AICS 2.0). Shotty has a regular fixed stock.
