just wondering...

Actually, I was checking out this site, http://www.globalfirepower.com/.

I was considering how something like Nepal vs. Norway would pan out as well.

It would depend on where it was fought, i.e. how far forces are having to deploy.  That can make a big difference.

Without a specific scenario, I'd say Brazil.

You're right, I didn't supply any specifics, I really dropped the ball. Let me think for  a second.

There is no replacement for real-world everyday training.  Italy wins hands down.  They have a lot of experience in NATO and EU joint ops and exercises.

History says the Italians are one step down the 'military' ladder from the French...

Brazil is not very well known for its military either.  Italy is a somewhat first world nation with a competent army.  Brazil has a typical south american army.  I believe Italy would win using its greater stability to outlast the brazilians.

And Dave_A it depends on how far back you look.  The roman empire kicked some ass in its time.

This would be like two blind chimpanzees flailing at each other with wiffle ball bats.

I would go with Brazil.

Don't most Italian men live at home with Mom until 40's or so?

Have to go with Brazil. Italy just took 6 KIAs in Afghanistan and are ready to pull out. Although it took 19 KIAs to bail on the Iraq mission.

A war between Brazil and Italy?  Who would win?  Hard to say.  But one thing is for sure: France would surrender.

In that case, maybe Italy versus Arfcom would be a valid matchup.
