I was running AVG on my 9 year old's XP box because she runs on a limited account and there's not a lot she could do to infect the machine anyway.

It recently indicated that I had to update to version 8.xxx

OK, fine.

But MAN, this thing is a total dog now.  Outrageously slow.   I have to say, I'm done with this software.

I switched from AVG a few years back. Went to NOD32, and now I use AVAST.

Get rid of it or Check to make sure it scans in Off-peak hours not when your on it...it does bog down the ram and Cpu when scanning..Set it for in the middle of the night when not in use...Cheers

I've just recently ditched McAfee and downloaded AVAST.  So far, so good.

I had AVG before, and although it was not the resource hog that McAfee has proven to be, I nevertheless got rid of it.  Just something about it.
