For whatever reason, I don't remember ever eating this stuff growing up. Lots of guys talk it up, so I grabbed some for my food stash. How do you guys like your CBH prepared? Do you add stuff to it?

Fried until the corned beef is nearly a crisp, and the hash is lightly browned.
Then an egg over top. Good stuff, and I was going to make a thread about this last week but forgot. |

Put it in a pan. Medium heat until just a little crispy. Add pepper and a little salt. Seasonings that you want. Eat with a glass of red wine while watching late night movie.

Cook it until its crispy, then crack eggs over it and cook until they are a little more than over easy.
Eat, with toast. and coffee. Enjoy. |
|
Don't use the canned corned beef. Go to a good deli and buy fresh, thick sliced corned beef. Cut it into small cubes on your cutting board.

When I cook corned beef I automatically cook more than I need just to make sure I have extra for corned beef hash, and poached eggs for breakfast the next day.
|
|
It's fantastic when you make it from scratch, but the complete product in a can leaves much to be desired, IMO.

Cooked until it is crispy. YUP ! Have it for breakfast with eggs.... or just put it on toast. |

I usually cook until it starts to get crispy flip then add the eggs. By the time the eggs cook the bottom should be just the right crispness.

what a coincidence i was just eating corned beef tonight.
CBH is definitely a survival food. one thing so many people overlook when prepping is how many calories are in the canned foods they buy! for example a can of green beans has like 100 calories (each serving is like 30 is something). to survive you NEED calories. the can i had tonight (from walmart, less than $2 i believe) had 2 servings at 480 calories each! that will keep you going. one thing to consider though is it's also very high in sodium and saturated fat. |

Roast Beef Hash is also good and less salt Yep. I prefer roast to corned, but if somebody else is cooking it I won't complain either way. |

Looks just like Alpo. I like to get my Alpo glow on from time to time.

I was going to say that real corned beef hash doesn't come in a can. For that matter, a whole corned brisket is incredibly savory. Mmmm.... I think I need to go to the store tomorrow for some sandwich fixin's. |
|
Quite possibly some of the best shit ever invented. Don't for get to add eggs. Yeah you risk a 50/50 chance of a heart attack within 24 hours of consuming, but it's worth it.

Add an egg and you have poor man's meat loaf.
I grew up eating that crap. And hamburger helper. We had lean years from the time I was born until about age 16, then my dad got a good job and we ate steak. |

The best way for me is to add eggs and louisiana hot sauce, put it on a tortilla then throw a little pepperjack cheese on it. Everytime I try to fry it crispy it just sticks to the pan.

Corned beef hash is great. Add a couple eggs, maybe some ketchup.
Just don't eat it if your sick. If you puke it up, you'll never want to eat it again, at least for quite awhile. It's one of those foods that looks exactly the same coming up as it did going down and that did it for me. I couldn't even look at the stuff for a couple years. |
|
My grandma always made it. I havent had it in years. My buddy told me they make it in a can, with potato action included. I just got back from the store, I cant wait for breakfast.

I was also without this wonderful food growing up. My wife introduced me to it, and I fucking love it! Its my go to Sunday morning meal. Its also great in a cast iron skillet while camping |

What brand is the best? I've probably walked passed this stuff a zillion times and never noticed it.

When you make a corned beef dinner (potatos, carrots, cabbage and Guinness) make twice as much as you think you will need.
All leftovers get cubed (omit xtra cabbage and in ARFCOM fashion there's no Guinness left) - no need to use a grinder and make mush. Chop an onion. Saute it in lots of butter. Add cubed potatos/carrots and pan fry till slightly crispy. Add cubed corned beef and crisp the whole shootin match up. Eggs over easy on top with toast. This stuff kicks scrapples ass.............. |

the gods are smiling upon this thread.....
this thread is making me go out and get some... |
