EVERYTHING is evidence of "racism" to the Left these days, and they keep beating anybody who disagrees with the Race Card. It's 50 times worse than I've ever seen them do it in the last 40 years.

This sucks for them and us because it devalues the real concept of racism, and demeans the efforts of the true social progressives that fought REAL racial injustice 50 years ago.  They whipped out the Nazi thing on Bush, which devalued the REAL suffering of millions by the Nazis, and a very small few from "our side" were doing the same thing at the Tea Parties with Obama's picture - equally stupid.

So what are the Dems going to do in three years, after they've whipped out the race card 790 times over nothing, when the charge doesn't stick anymore? The general public who voted the "cool guy" into the White House is going to get tired of the baseless accusations eventually, and when they do, the Dems are going to have to drum up some new foolishness to stay in office.

What will it be?

At the rate the current administration is rolling back the racial tolerance gains made over the last 50 years, 3 years from now the word will mean something again.

Just call them "racist" back. After a while, the meaning gets canceled out.

I respectfully disagree. Remember what happened to a nice healthy liberal who offered some alternative healthcare ideas? I am, of course, talking about John Mackey, CEO and co-founder (and noted left-winger and Dem contributor) of Whole Foods. He got himself stomped a new mudhole by the race-baiters.

That stuff gets old real quick when you think that you're immune to criticism because you're part of the Sainted Leftist Coalition, but find out that you're not. When ordinary Americans, the goofy kind that just "voted Mr. Cool Guy" in start getting handed the "Race Card" because they didn't fall right into lockstep with the Obama-bot crowd, they're going to push the "Reject" button on him in 2012. Trust me when I tell you that in three years, hardly ANYBODY will be able to call anybody else a racist, as the mere charge itself will become a joke.

Thus it loses its power.

You know, part of me reacted to Jimmeh Carter's comments the same way I would have reacted if the Clintons were in office:  This was all planned, he was just being the radical bombthrower allowing Obama to play the part of the magnamimous, forgiving "racial healer".

But the more I think about it the more I think Jimmeh was just shooting his mouth off in an effort to stay relevant.  I can't see how this will help Obama with white moderate voters; he's probably seething right now, wishing Jimmeh would get kidnapped by Hamas or something.

Dear Liberals,

Please be advised that your Race Card account has been closed. This decision was based on your account history of excessive over-limit spending. Please destroy your card immediately as it will no longer be honored.

Sincerely, The American People

No president in history came to office with more political capital than Barack Obama. He squandered it like a lottery winner within a few months. If liberals had any sense of irony, they would appreciate the inanity of braying about racism right after America elected a black president.

Obama’s entire life has been devoted to fomenting racial animus. All of his mentors, from the rancid racist and surrogate father, Frank Marshall Davis to Fan of Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, have been rabid, whitey despising racists.

In his fictional “autobiography”, Obama is consumed by bigotry. He can find ersatz discrimination in nearly any situation. Even his white mother was preoccupied with race.

In Dreams, Obama describes his mother’s overly romanticized view of black Americans: “Every black man was Thurgood Marshall or Sidney Poitier; every black woman Fannie Lou Hammer or Lena Horne. To be black was to be the beneficiary of a great inheritance, a special destiny, glorious burdens that only we were strong enough to bear.” (Dreams From My Father, Pg. 51).

it will be a long time before we see another black man running for POTUS, and I still think Obama will not run in 2012.

However I'm sick of it and right now it doesn't have any meaning.

"You're racist" just sounds like whoever is saying it lost whatever argument they were having and defaulted back to something that is/was supposed to be bad.

Same with Nazi.

It works.  The OP and whole sea of almost identical conservative discourse on matters racial is proof.  When one side must always first attempt to prove its moral fitness before speaking, and do so in terms laid down by its opponents, that side has already lost.

They will become more and more strident.  They will switch from calling Tea Party protesters mere racists to being "potentially violent".

Then they will look at active means to suppress liberty and ANY opposing viewpoint.

The Alien and Sedition acts will be resurrected in Congress.  It will be modeled after the Sedition acts of 1798 (oops) and 1918.

These will be further amendments to the Patriot Act.

Note, specifically, the clause that was recently added covering Domestic Terrorism (sec. 802).

Using these powers the Tea Party movement will be officially declared to be "dangerous to human life".  The government will declare that the Tea Party movement:
A: Attempts to intimidate or coerce a civilian population.
B: Attempts to influence the policy of government by intimidation or coercion.

This will lead to asset forfeiture of any leaders of the movement via Sec. 806.

There is too much money to be made from it.

Why solve a problem (or allow it to go away) when there is so much money to be made from it?

I had to come back to this.  The charge is going to stick because whites are going to remain in the majority for another twenty to thirty years, and the achievement gaps between whites and non-Asian minorities aren't going away.  Many, probably most, non-Asian minority members (NAMs for short) believe, or can be persuaded to believe, that this is a product of racism.  It must be, right?  We're all equal, and all cultures are equal, and we're all alike under the skin, so what's left?  A large portion of whites believe this, too, including nearly all the whites who run the nation's culture and knowledge production institutions - schools, universities, Hollywood, major book publishing, the prestige media, etc.  The proof that the racism card hasn't lost its power is ably demonstrated in the opening post of this thread, where the poster feels the obligation to emphasize just how terrible racism is, and how bad this promiscuous use of the term is for the victims of real racism.  Here we see the usual conservative play of attempting to assume the mantle of 1950s progressives, often accompanied with phrases like "Liberals are the real racists";"Affirmative action because it's bad for blacks.";"I'm so happy to see a black man open carrying at a Tea Party.";"Michael Steele for GOP chairman."  One could no doubt think of more.  These aren't persuasive to anyone who doesn't want to believe them in the first place, and they strengthen the race card.
