EVERYTHING is evidence of "racism" to the Left these days, and they keep beating anybody who disagrees with the Race Card. It's 50 times worse than I've ever seen them do it in the last 40 years.
This sucks for them and us because it devalues the real concept of racism, and demeans the efforts of the true social progressives that fought REAL racial injustice 50 years ago. They whipped out the Nazi thing on Bush, which devalued the REAL suffering of millions by the Nazis, and a very small few from "our side" were doing the same thing at the Tea Parties with Obama's picture - equally stupid.
So what are the Dems going to do in three years, after they've whipped out the race card 790 times over nothing, when the charge doesn't stick anymore? The general public who voted the "cool guy" into the White House is going to get tired of the baseless accusations eventually, and when they do, the Dems are going to have to drum up some new foolishness to stay in office.
What will it be?
I had to come back to this. The charge is going to stick because whites are going to remain in the majority for another twenty to thirty years, and the achievement gaps between whites and non-Asian minorities aren't going away. Many, probably most, non-Asian minority members (NAMs for short) believe, or can be persuaded to believe, that this is a product of racism. It must be, right? We're all equal, and all cultures are equal, and we're all alike under the skin, so what's left? A large portion of whites believe this, too, including nearly all the whites who run the nation's culture and knowledge production institutions - schools, universities, Hollywood, major book publishing, the prestige media, etc. The proof that the racism card hasn't lost its power is ably demonstrated in the opening post of this thread, where the poster feels the obligation to emphasize just how terrible racism is, and how bad this promiscuous use of the term is for the victims of real racism. Here we see the usual conservative play of attempting to assume the mantle of 1950s progressives, often accompanied with phrases like "
Liberals are the
real racists";"Affirmative action because it's bad for blacks.";"I'm so happy to see a
black man open carrying at a Tea Party.";"Michael Steele for GOP chairman." One could no doubt think of more. These aren't persuasive to anyone who doesn't want to believe them in the first place, and they strengthen the race card.
