Obama admin: Cap-and-trade will cost families $1761 per year

The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.

A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. At the upper end of the administration’s estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.

A second memorandum, which was prepared for Obama’s transition team after the November election, says this about climate change policies: “Economic costs will likely be on the order of 1 percent of GDP, making them equal in scale to all existing environmental regulation.”

The documents (PDF) were obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute and released on Tuesday.

But Gee.  People should have no problem getting $1761 together to pay a bunch of Al Gore's friends for absolutely nothing.

It's not like we are in a recession or something.  Thanks to The One's brilliant policies were are all living large.

Wasn't there a report about Al Gore's "green" house that stated that it actually cost more $$$ than it was saving?

This won't wake up the Obamabots, even though it should, since it impacts everyone.  This will really hurt working folks who live paycheck to paycheck.

If passed, this will double a lot of folks annual gas and electric bills.

And that is only the beginning!

zero's "shock and awe" plan to shove all this crap down our throats in a short period of time was Rahm's brainchild.

He thought they could ride zero's wave right through with no one stopping them.

These guys are the sickest, slimiest fuckers we've seen.  Every damn person associated with zero can be considered just as sick and slimy as he is.

Everyone keep in mind that this is an 0bama estimate. The real number will be different, probably much higher.

Between this and letting Bush's tax cut expire, Obama's going to tax the average middle class family with over $2500 of additional taxes in 2010.

Gotta love the 0care timeline; they tried to rahm it through before the recess. Now 0 just got done with a speech which undercuts what they have been working on. You know, only like a month after he wanted it rahm'ed through.

"OK, let's try this".
"Oops! Didn't work."
"OK, let's see if this works!"

Those of us with "unusually large" incomes already knew we were going to get hammered...  The middle class will very soon realize that they too have an "unusually large" income since all that really means is that you actually had an income.

As long as he doesn't raise taxes on the middle class we will be fine.
