Every time I buy a gun and have to fill out the paperwork and undergo the background check I get nervous.
I know I haven't done anything that would disqualify me, but for some reason I always worry that I'll get denied. Here in UT, you don't have to do the fed check if you have CCW, but they have to call in to verify your CCW so you're still waiting on a phone call. I HATE this feeling, like you have to wait to see if you're allowed to have your constitutional rights. Anyone else have that small nervous worry that you'll get delayed or denied when you buy a new gun? |
They make me feel like paying attention to dotting i's and crossing t's to avoid an attack of the stupid.
To be honest, I a couple months ago I had to go pick up a Nodak Spud AK-74 receiver that I ordered. I got really nervous because about a year prior to that, I got tested positive for PTSD by the VA. I was really afraid I was gonna get denied after doing all that paperwork shit and being humiliated by that. Luckily nothing happened.
Other than that, years ago, when I bought my AR15, I wasn't worried at all. |
There's always a little worry, but I'm clean.
Still, I do hold my breath until dealer gives me the OK. One never knows with the government. Chris |
You have a guilty conscience. You must have done something wrong. Just tell us where you buried her.

CHL and carry a copy of BC (Long form of course)
Good to go Hope to use the CHL this weekend for a buy |
Yes I know what you mean. Mostly worried I'll get delayed. Its happened once or twice before.
That's what I'm talking about, the "hold your breath" feeling. It sucks.
It just annoys me that they took away our CCW exemption to the Brady check
I get nervous someone somewhere, is going through the same process and is going to draw the line and say "NOT BE INFRINGED" and it's gonna get ugly real fast.
I get the distinct feeling the NICS checks are just a way to get another 10 bucks out of me though. CHL ought to be good enough not to have to pay the stupid NICS checks everytime.
I'm usually admiring my new purchase to worry about the 3 minute phone call.

Hate filling out the paperwork. Have CHL so I just pay and walk out with her.

I am waiting for them to add another zero to the end of that 10 bucks though... for each check. I am sure that is on the agenda... |

I think it sucks that I have to fill out a 4473 to exercise a constitutional right!
annoyed in a red tape sorta way, here you can just hand them yer ccw and they copy the number down and no check is required, but still it sucks , its like yer asking permission to buy a gun

Here, they don't make any calls if you have a CWP, and I don't put my SSN down on any forms, so I don't worry about it anymore. Plus even if I did have to have them call for a check, I'm sure it would be approved...I have never got into trouble with the law. |
Makes me feel oppressed. Asking permission for something that is a right, seems very wrong.
I don't mind it. Actually, I'm glad they do it as it shows they don't want to be selling to a felon.
Not one bit. I never did anything wrong, so I have nothing to fear. Only takes 20 minutes or so.

I've never felt the need to subject myself to a background check.
Done it once when I bought my stripped AR lower. Made me feel sick to my stomach when they said they entered it into the ATF's online system. I wanted to eject right then and there. I've done nothing wrong, but it made me feel like I was now on a watchlist or something. I'm 100% A-OK about an instant background check, but the records of purchase and stuff are what got me.
Dunno, I haven't had a background check done on me for a gun purchase in several years.

Just reminds me that we are not free, just like the same dumb bitch that has to check my ID everytime I buy beer.

I stopped buying from dealers last year. A buddy at work got a visit from the ATF a couple of weeks ago becuase he always bought new guns. They had a list of everything he had bought on a 4473, over 50 guns

It makes me feel like a subject.
I'm sure it makes many people feel safe from the scary black felons. |
Doesn't bother me. In Texas, with my CHL, filling out the 4473 is mostly a formality to me. FFLs are not required to call in when a buyer in Texas has a valid CHL.

I have no doubt they will raise that fee but not a chance in hell of lowering it. Gun rights groups in OR have worked to pass legislation to allow CHL holders to purchase without the check and it failed. No doubt because they don't want to lose the revenue stream. That and the liberal Reps objecting to it. |

Ok, which one of you is Sarah Brady, and which one is Diane Feinstein? Anything that makes it harder for a felon to get a gun is fine by me. As long as it makes sense. Closing down the legal market means they only have the black market to turn to. But oh, I see. Lets start name calling other people that disagree with you. Quoted:

Me too. $25.00 my ass. $25 my ass to. It should be free. Or $5 at the most. Getting ready to fork over $35 for a PPT/DROS Saturday when I am buying a Yugo SKS w/extra stock set and bipod for $240. Add the dumb gunlock requirement in CA, and I am paying $40 or so. That is what, 10% or so of the entire cost for my rifle? |
