Pro-Second Amendment Legislation in New York State:

New York State Assembly Bill 941 and New York State Senate Bill 3746 have been introduced at the State Legislature.  This legislation would standardize the procedure statewide for the issuance of pistol permits.  If passed, county judges and/or issuing officers would no longer have the authority to add restrictions such as the "hunting and target" stamp to NYS Pistol Carry Permits.  Basically, an applicant would either be issued a permit or not issued a permit based on current criteria and there would be no additional arbitrary restrictions attached.

This is very important for handgun owners in the State of New York and regardless of how easy it is currently in your respective county to obtain a non-restricted CCW license, please take a few minutes and call, write, or e-mail your state assemblyman and state senator and ask them to support these important bills.

Thanks everybody for your help.

BMAN-

Thanks for the heads up! Sen. Bill Larkin will be getting my letter in the AM.

It shouldn't be a matter of which side of the county line you reside, that determines whether you get "Full Carry" or "To and From Hunting only" privileges.

BMANSAR15,

What's the status of these bills?
I can't find anything regarding this legislative action at the State, Senate & Assembly pages.
