I figured someone in here would know.  I got a new laptop with Vista 64 bit but I need to download software for work and 64 bit Vista is not supported yet and the software will not work.  I do have an old Windows XP professional disk.  Can I install the XP and dual boot with Vista?  But I need to make the XP 32 bit.  Is that possible?  Thanks.

Doesnt Vista have a tool to emulate 32 bit software for installation?

Look in Control Panel.

Most of the programs I installed on my Vista 64 bit laptop run in x86 mode.  It shouldn't matter.

Have you actually tried the software in x64?

Most of my computers have more than one OS on them, and the GAG Boot Loader solved all my multi-boot problems.

What's it do when you try to run it?

I tried to download the software from the company and it kept freezing and not installing.  I called the help desk and they were the ones that told me 64bit Vista was not compatible with their programs.  I also have Ubuntu installed and partitioned on this computer.  Is it possible with have Vista, Ubuntu, and XP all at once?  Even if I do install XP how do I know if I have 64 bit or 32 bit XP? Because I thnk 64 bit XP was not supported too and I do not want to waste my time install XP if it will not work.

I don't get how 64 bit isn't supported when it is fully capable of running programs in 32 bit compatibility mode.

does it have to install unsigned drivers during installation?
