Peter Frampton was definitely one of the most influential guitarists and songwriters of the 70's era. |

Quoted: Peter Frampton was definitely one of the most influential guitarists and songwriters of the 70's era. He had some really good songs, it is a shame the same 2 or 3 songs are on heavy rotation on the classic rock stations all the time. |

Regardless of when the footage was filmed, the music 'videos' were made in the '80s. From back when MTV actually was about music and showed music videos 24/7, and bands actually made videos about their songs.

Hell's yes! Almost every party we had BITD started with that song. The weekend wasn't started until we cranked "Hair of the Dog" and started the partying. |

Usually when people think music videos, they think MTV. For good reason, because MTV popularized it and was the only Music Video channel. Truth is, there were alot of live performances filmed LOOONG before MTV. Ed Sullivan, Old Grey Whistle Test, Woodstock. All these and a WHOLE lot more than I can think of at the moment. |

"The Midnight Special," for instance, began in 1972 and while it featured mainly live performances, they showed recorded performances from time to time. Later, they pieced together concert, studio, and TV footage (some from "The Midnight Special") to get something on MTV and "Friday Night Videos" before they produced a "real" MTV video. And some never did make a dedicated video. |

And some never did make a dedicated video. I used to stay up to watch Wolfman Jack on The Midnight Special in the 70s. While most of the performances were live or recorded "live" sessions, they did introduce a few produced videos. I remember seeing Rod Stewart's "Hot Legs" video for the first time. It brought a whole new enlightenment to my early-teen mind. |
