Some kids tagged my classroom portable with "BK", a Crip thing meaning "Blood Killer".

So I printed out this guy and taped it on the wall underneath it.

That is not a big time gang symbol. Probably just some local kids that are trying to look bad. Gangs use symbols and numbers to let other gangs know this is there turf and to stay the fuck away. Gangs also use colors to identify themselves by. Well know gangs like the bloods use the colors Red, white, black with the primary color Red. The Crips use Blue, white, black with the primary color Blue. It someone in the Crips wanted to disrespect the Bloods they would cross out their graffiti with a blue X. Also each gang has signs that identify themselves by like pitch folks, 5 and 6 pointed crowns and thousands of others. A sign of total disrespect is to find out what a certain gangs sign is and to cross it out with a rival gangs colors and to place their graffiti on or near by with this gangs symbols upside down. They really get pizzed when someone places their logo upside down and will hunt down and kill whoever did this. You need to be on the ball if you decide to mess with these people because if this is a true hard core gang they are bound by blood to protect their turf and colors. This is how they rise in the ranks and none of them want to stay on the bottom rung of the ladder long. they also don't want to be killed by one of their own clan members for not doing the deed when someone disrespects the gang.

I dunno - is that a Latino gang sign? I'm from the sticks, we don't have that shit here. Only time I've run into actual gangbangers was in downtown KC at about 11pm - I was coming back to my truck from taking pics, and three guys dressed in mostly black speaking ghetto were obviously talking about me, then crossed the street to be on the same side as me. I just looked directly and them, and put my hand in the pocket of my jacket, where my pistol was. They didn't try anything - I don't think they were interested in a target that wasn't impressed by them. When I walked by them, I stopped and started digging through my camera bag so I could keep them in sight without looking back at them. They just walked on.
