Not to belittle, in any way the loss and suffering by many many families that day but how about the families of Columbine,Waco, McDonalds shootout, the North Hollywood shoot out, any murder committed in a convenience store , hell VietNam. How were the families of lost loved ones compensated? Not with a check for 1 millon dollars in tax payer money I'm betting. I'm growing weary and poorer here! Am I the only one that feels this way? Actually, that's $1.6 million each.  But I heard it was from all the donations that are pouring in.  It was a terrible tragedy for sure.  However, people die every day in terrible tragedies.  I see nothing wrong in providing whatever help is needed to get the survivors through the tough times, but does that mean we make them instant millionaires?

You know, it is such BS that when the goverment for whatever reason decides that the victims of 9-11 deserve compensation, which they do NOT, the families bitch that it is not enough.  Have thses people all gone mad?  When has the government ever given citizen compensation for this before?  Did the victims of the Oklahoma Bombing get this?  I think not.  This is setting a very dangerous precident for future events.  Are the victims of Ted Bundy now going to get compensation?  Is this retroactive?  How about the Hiroshima victims?  Holy S**t.  This is out of hand.

My opinion is that the government is making a big mistake in giving this money to them. One thing is do they deserve to receive this money more then the victims of the aircraft bombing in Lockerby Scotland.

Another thing and a big one which is going to cause the problems is what happens when the next attack occurs. If another several thousand people or even tens of thousands are killed, what will the government do about compensating these new victims. Will every victim of this war receive the same amount of compensation as the victims of the WTC. If everyone can not be compensated then no one should be compensated, otherwise there will be a lot of very Piss*d off people.

Take it one further since this is old news, might as well bring you up to date. hillery klinton is arguing for compensation for the illegal aliens killed, and of course the families that come forward will not be subject to deportation etc etc...

Oh and about a month ago there are several families that are declining the lotto money and going ahead with a suit against the airlines....

It doesn't surprise me that Hillary Klinton wants compensation for illegal aliens.  That's where the Democrats get most of their votes.  [:X*]

It's nice to hear some voices of people that agree with me.  This is to me is a big experiment in socialism because it says that the government will now take care of you if something bad happens to you or your family.  It is setting a precedent that says that people no longer have to be responsible for their own well being with life insurance, etc. because gracious and caring Uncle Sam will take care of them when something bad happens.

Furthermore, did the victims of Pearl Harbor get compensated when the Japanese attacked?  I can't say for sure, but I doubt it.  Instead, their generation sucked it up and went on to defeat both the Japanese and Germans.  Not only that, the families of the men and women who have died in Afghanistan aren't getting $1.6 million bucks.  People nowadays are turning into a bunch of greedy bastards!

This is the exact reason that I started a raffle for Nate Chapman, the SpecOps soldier killed in Afghanistan.  According to military buds his family won't get much $50-100K from the military.  This seems like a drop in the bucket compared to the instant millionaires created from this tragedy.  The irony is that they probably already were doing pretty well since most were in the investing business to begin with.  I'll probably get in trouble for posting here since I didn't get any response to the initial raffle request, but here it is if you want to help out the family of Nate Chapman.
