Got a friend who wants to sell his Tec 9. Now I'm aware that it may be a POS but I collect and that's all this would be for (the collection). How much is one of these things worth?

Depending on the finish, I've seen NIB preban TEC's for between $300-$400.

I've got a Tec-9, pre-ban, and I have had nothing but good luck out of it.  I have an extended barrel shoud that keeps the muzzle down during rapid fire (with my 50 round mag) and I have also had it custom tapped to house a Tasco PDP3.

It if is pre-ban, price is about like above.  A post ban should be no more than $250, tops!

What's the difference between pre and post on one of these, a threaded barrel?

The last one I saw for sale was $2,100.  This was at a gun show in Columbia, SC.  A label taped to the gun said it was a rare open-bolt model.  $2,100 for a Tec 9!z

r. dog,
I can't remember the manufacturer and you should give some idea of the condition of the Tec 9 - percentages are easier - 95% or....?

Probably minus the barrel shroud as well.  You know, so the gangbanger can't use the "assault hold" technique and spray people with semi-automatic gunfire.

I bought one three weeks ago at a gun show in Spokane.  It was like new with no paper and two 32 rd mags.  He asked $300 for it and I talked him down to $250.  It is fun to shoot but I would not pay too much more than $250 for one.

Well I got it last night:

Intratec AB-10 (postban Tec9)
Two 30rnd Magazines
500 rnds. Remington FMJ
Plastic Intratec Carry Case

The whole setup is completely new. He never actually used it. Got it for $200. Couldn't pass it up. The ammo alone is worth $60-$70.
