Nasrallah says US, Israel plotting against Iran

Washington, 20 May (WashingtonTV)—Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah on Wednesday accused the United States and Israel of trying to sow discord between Iran and the Arab world.

Nasrallah said that the move was aimed at portraying Iran as the enemy of the Arab states, and not Israel, reports the Associated Press.

“The final battle that we are fighting is the American-Israel scheme in the region, the battle to create an Arab-Iranian conflict and a Sunni-Shiite conflict,” he said in a videotaped message.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Iran and its nuclear program pose a threat not only to Israel, but to the entire Middle East. He has also framed the Middle East conflict as one between moderates and extremists, reports AP.

Nasrallah said that Iran was “the only voice standing against” Israel, and that Tehran had helped Hezbollah battle its enemies “without conditions or dictates,” reports Israel’s YNet News.

“Iran supports the opposition forces in the area unconditionally. No one should be ashamed to say: ‘Yes, we are in contact with Tehran’,” added Nasrallah.

Iran is a vocal supporter of Hezbollah and Palestinian Hamas, but denies Western accusations that it provides arms to those militant groups.
