So the wife is flipping around channels on television, and comes across "World's Strictest Parents".

The parents that are supposed to be tough on this kid are trying to make him takes those things out of his ears. When he starts to move them to let the smell what would happen if he took them out, it almost made the "parents" puke. They said it smelled like "Rotting flesh and death".

Wtf is wrong with people? Why would someone do that stupidity to themselves? I would laugh if someone came and snatched the damned thing out of his ears.

Well, as a old-dude (45) I don't get it.

A few weeks ago I was in a store here and saw 5 young guys ("'Looked like they were in their early 20's) with that crap going on (All of them) as well as tat's (Full-sleeve ect), "fu-man-chu's" AND, they were all overweight.......

I thought it was some sort of gay/nazi/mal-adjusted weirdo's night out.....who f'n knows (?)

I guess if that's what trips your trigger it's all good but, I have a hard time picturing my buds and I in the late 70's and early 80's hanging out together going...."Dude! Them holes in yer lobes are big enough to shit through!"....

I've never understood the desire for tattoos, piercings, and other forms of self-mutilation and/or permanent decoration.

Not only do I like myself just the way I am (though frankly some cybernetic augmentation wouldn't be amiss, so long as it was low-key), I'd rather not add to the list of identifying marks on my body for the FBI to put on my warrant when Obama puts me on his list.

i have no idea. had nothing to do with washing, you could wash, and then 5 hours later its back. but it only smells, if you take them out, there will be a coating of dead skin on the gauge.

I have a 00 gauge stretch in one of my ears, the smell ( my friends and I refer to it as almond buttfunk ) comes from oils and dead skin reacting with the surgical steel, when I wear organics ie wood or bamboo plugs there is no smell, same for Lexan or glass, different stones sometimes have a smell but not as noticable. I had to lower the gauge in my septum because it reeked too bad for me.

Me and my GF of the week shot an IDPA match with a guy who was hooped up at least that big and he had to take them out to get his ears on.

We didnt smell or notice anything except it was kind of weird watching his ear lobes hanging down like raw bacon and him packing them inside his peltors when it was his turn.
