Guy at my work has a Taurus 1911 stainless with hoag (sp?) grips. He says its a little too much gun for him and he's only put 19 rounds through it. I asked how much he wanted for it and he said he had to have $700 for it. Is this a good deal?

Thanks all,

FtB

funny the different responses I've gotten in the two different threads....

Given the timeframe the fellow is tryin to sell it in (its hard to find some 1911's at the moment) I think the prices have risen a little bit. but for reference, back in April, I bought a new Springfield Armory Milspec in stainless and paid to have it shipped plus transfer fees plus my background check and it was still cheaper than that. Plus SA>Taurus :)

Try between 550 and 600.

I'd give him 1/2 that and call it a good deal!

you can still get a springfield mil-spec for less than that

I gave $400.00 for my blued PT 1911 used. I would give no more than $550 if I were you.

This times a CAJILLION BILLION!!

$400 tops.  Taurus name on it makes it worth less.

Bud's gun shop.

Taurus 1911SS 45ACP Stainless 8 RD

$619 delivered.

And I could get it $50 cheaper than that from a local dealer.

Pretty much. Brother just bought a blue 1911 in 38 Super. Guy was trying to move the caliber, and it was only $475. The 45 in stainless was 620. 700=NO GO.

Overpriced, hit or miss quality control, POS.
You can do better.

That's a fair price for a Colt.

I'm not even sure I'd take a Taurus for $350, some people's like for them notwithstanding.

Whenever you ask a price on something there is going to be somebody who pretty much stole it from someone. Like my $300 Kimber, this is far from the norm.

Not just no, but hell no...  He's trying to get you to pay $700 to afford the SA MilSpec he has his eye on.  The "too much gun" is a load of crap...

Around here its not as far from the norm as you might think.

Try this.

Start a thread about the sweet $250 unissued Yugo SKS you just bought and see how long it takes for some shithead to post that he paid $90 for one 10 years ago so there's no way yours could possibly be worth $250.
