I'm in the market for a new pistol and I've been out of the game for a few years on what's new and good. My short list is:

Glock 30
S&W M+P 45 compact
XD45 compact

Anything else I missed?

No 1911 junk - Been there, done that, need something that goes bang everytime

My PM9 has gone BANG every time I pulled the trigger and is way smaller than any of those three. <shrug>

Now you've done it. All semblance of rational advice to your query will not be forthcoming due to that statement.

THIS.

I switched to this as my CCW piece from a G30.

Granted thats .45 to 9mm, but it was a HUGE difference in carry.

Don't know. Don't have one in .45.

And why is a guy named 9mm4me asking about .45?

There is no "best", it's all relative and subjective.

Go rent them all and purchase the one that's best for you.

I'd guess XD45 based upon what I've seen/heard.

My USP45F is 100% reliable as is my 1911

Grip angle and size are different when comparing the XD and Glock.  I have a G30 and a XD45C.  I have big hands and shoot better with the Glock.  Accessories are many for the Glock as well and I can run my G21 mags in it.  HST's hang up in my XD.

Hmmmm, most likely because you bought junk.

I have a Kimber Ultra CDP II that has been flawless and I can shoot amazing groups with it.

in on 1.

you're going to regret that 1911 statement....

HK USP compact if you want an exposed hammer, decocker and safety and don't mind refinancing your house to buy the $50 mags. I sold mine and got a G19 and am very happy with that decision.

Depends on what you like.  My G30 has been a very good carry gun thus far.  My only issue has been a weird feeding problem with Winchester Ranger 230gr +p.  Every 9th round in any 10 round magazine fails to feed––the mouth of the hollowpoint actually feeds into the edge of the barrel roof.  Every other round has been fine.

You have departed from the path of Win.
Welcome to Fail

With that said, I don't know enough about the M&P or Glock to pass any judgment.  I'd be surprised if they weren't good pistols though.  XD seems pretty good too.  I'd pick the one that was most comfortable to shoot, IMO

My XD .45 i rock solid but this is the best advice by far, its really about what fit me best i loved the HK .45 but the XD won since the grip fit me better.

Loves me my G30SF.

I still have the 1911 (And it has never failed to go BANG, so don't start in on me! ) but the 30 is better for an IWB which has become my favorite carry method. Several thousand rounds through it and nary a problem. Love it.

JMHO, YMMV, Batteries not included, reg. us. pat. off.

Wait a minute, let me get this straight.  You start a thread asking "What's the best compact polymer .45 out right now" and in your OP you list several models but you dont even mention the HK45c or the USP 45c?

You specified compact polymer, so here's my recommendation. I have used the M&P-45 compact and absolutely love it. It is also available in 9mm and .40. I have to take exception to your 1911 jab though. I've got decades of experience with them and have only had a couple that gave me any problems, and those problems were almost exclusively mag related. With that said, I have heard many knowledgeable shooters say that compact 1911's can be finicky, but I've never owned or carried anything smaller than a Commander so I can't offer anything there. The 1911 is the most widely copied pistol design in history and variations have been made by both good makers and bad ones. The biggest mistake that 1911 bashers make is painting them all with the same brush.
