Two thoughts:

1) How the hel does that even happen?

2) WTF, taking a cellphone pic while driving?  Eyes forward, keep moving, don't be a douche.

I've often thought that all the totaled vehicles on the highways need to be left there.  Just push them to the side of the road and leave the twisted hulk for everyone to see.  There will be so much twisted metal that everyone will be desensitized to it so that everyone won't need to f^(kin' rubberneck when there is a wreck.

Rubberneckers. One of the reasons that traffic is so bad in Houston. It's not good enough any more just to slow down and see if someone's head is rolling down the street, now we have to take a photo of the scene.

Most of the middle of nowhere stuff is the driver stops paying attention/falls asleep, then drifts to one side' hits the rumble strip or edge of the road then overcorrects as the avoid the side of the road then loses control of veh and rolls it. (or the same sequence of events following a blowout)

But yeah, that.... Van?  Is beyond toast. Hopefully everyone got out ok

edited to add info

From the look of the debris whatever hit it probably glanced off to the right in front of that blue truck...looks like one hell of a hit though..and i wouldnt doubt it was a semi look at the dualie tire marks leading up the back of it.

I have parked there many times. Driving? You got to be kidding. On the Gulf Freeway? You DON'T drive in the freeway in Houston. You park and wait. Move 20ft and park and wait. WJ

This ain't gonna buff out either....

Made this call the other morning just before shift change. Drunk decided to pass the red semi on the right hand shoulder and cut in front of him just before a bridge. Semi reacted and crushed this car between it and bridge guard rail, flipping the car. Car was occupied by a mother, and three small children. The youngest, 6 was ejected and died. The semi driver was not charged however, the drunk BASTARD was charged with with depraved heart killing. Oh yeah, he tried to run and got stuck in the median. Bystanders / witnesses held him at bay until the LEO's and we got there. Sorry to hijack the thread.
