You don't listen to country songs around the fire.  You sing country songs around the fire.  The more you drink, the better you sound.

David Allen Coe songs were always good for laugh, who could forget the classic "there's cumstains on the pillow where she used to lay her head".

We have a classic country AM station still going here, all 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's country all the time, great fishing and beer drinking/fire sittin' music. The old stuff sounds better on the AM station also, go figure.

My stepdad is a country singer.  He's sang at fanfare twice (years ago).  So there are a lot I like, I hear a lot.

I couldn't narrow it to a particular song.

The current standbys of choice are Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins and Vince Gill (sometimes)

The "new" classics of choice are George Strait, Chris LeDoux and Eagles

The "old" classics of choice are Rex Allen, Jim Reeves, Eddie Arnold, Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash.
Boy...that's a lot of listening ain't it? Guess I better have plenty of logs for the fire

FWIW I like some of the older female singers, too but the new crop (while cute as hell) all sound the same to me (kinda like screamin' cats)

Anything by Johnny Cash.  I know he's not "country" but he's close.

I was fortunate to meet Jesse at an Appleseed shoot this past April.  Two other musicians came along with him and between the 3 of them, there was plenty of good guitar pickin' and songcraft!
