So tell me, why aren't all red blooded USA citizens conservative? I know why those on welfare are leftists, but why would any responsible people lean left?
For the life of me I can not understand why responsible people want to take care of those (able bodied people) who refuse to take care of themselves. I don't mind voluntarily helping people get on their feet for the short term, but generation after generation. Sheesh!

Some characteristics of being Conservative (my take):
Following the principles that founded this country/pro US Constitution.
Self reliance/personal responsibility.
Small Gov.
Individual liberty/freedoms, inalienable rights.
No sense of entitlement to the fruits of the labor of others.
The free market system. Yes I know that is Capitalism, but it fits for me.

Because our teachers and media are leftists and paint a rosy picture of leftism for everybody from an early age, discourage critical thinking, and make conservatism seem backward and "uncool".

Only those equipped with the ability to filter bullshit from birth or those who have seen the light through their experiences in real life can think straight.

Argue with a leftist. They don't even know why they think half of the things they -believe- in are a good idea, or have historical analogs going back thousands of years that show their most treasured ideas to be pure fail.

ETA: Please guys, don't call them liberals. (Not you OP, just heading it off before it happens.) Call them what they are. Leftist-statists. Socialist puritans. Anything but liberal. Their ideas and .gov structure are the antithesis of the definition of liberal. Jefferson was a liberal. Obama is a power hungry, socialist control freak who values control over others lives rather than freedom.
