Lots of horror stories HOWEVER I know a guy who got himself a Russian bride. Very nice and pretty. And she is a doctor. Yes a real doctor who works in a hospital in Sacramento. He doesn't work, stay at home dad, she supports him.
eta And he is a goofy fucker, but I guess he's smart as hell or he got game. |

A guy at my last job tried it. One day, I came in and he had all of these pictures of this Russian girl up. He just kept going on and on about how they "met" on the internet and that she was coming over to visit and most likely stay. Said they were in love, yada yada. The girl was hot and the bikini shots looked good, but he was a weird and looked like a pedophile. He would get insulted if you said it was a Mail Order Bride thing. Promised that it wasn't. Well, the time finally came for her to fly over. He sent her like $2,000 for the plane ticket and he never heard from her again. Came in shortly after and there weren't any pictures of her up. Guy got ripped off and we all saw it coming and tried to warn him. But he was "in love." Dumbass.

I think my uncle's new wife is one. She is from Columbia I think. Can't speak English to save her life. How they met is sketchy but they spent a lot of time communicating through her teenage son. He has no money, is in his 60 (I think), and owes everyone on the planet money, so I'm not sure what she is really getting out of it.

I knew a guy at my old unit that flew to St. Petersburg to attend one of their "dances". Well he did and he got what he was looking for. He specifically asked for the girls that noone else wanted
 .The next day, he is heading to the airport and what does he see? The chick with all her shit in those Wal-Mart type plastic bags. He hauled ass to the plane and got out with his kidneys. Its a totally dick thing to do, but then again, if you guys knew how this guy was....then you would understand. Funny as hell to hear him talk about it. |

idiot roomate I once had went in for this , met some girl in colombia through some bride site. they hung out for a month down there , got hot and heavy then he left... 2 months later she is preggo and her family is seriously catholic so he goes down to try to see what he can work out. He is met by a few of her brothers with machine guns and is escorted to the church where they are married. well he can't bring her back to the USA due to paperwork so he leaves and tries to let it go and have no contact. No such luck , seems some relatives live in the usa and and have some of the family members come visit the usa where they come visit the roomie and basically tell him to get her in the usa or he is a dead man. 2 years later she is here with his kid , who turned out to have some serious mental issues at that. He is misereable and hates her even though she is hot , and she just blows all his $$, god help the kid...

A friend of mine married a Russian gal about 15 years ago. Their still married.
A guy that I worked with also married a bride Russia about 10 years ago. He was Mormon. Which struck me as odd that he would go mail order for a Russian Orthodox. I remember a guy that I worked with back in '02 that getting ready to marry a a girl from Peru. Last I heard he was still married. So I guess it's about luck whether you get a good one or not. I remember watching a show about a guy in his 50s marrying a woman from Russia. He goes over, get married, meets her brother, and having a good honeymoon. Awhile later back in states he suddenly dies. His daughter(from his first marriage) starts investigating his death. To make a long story short. The Russian gal killed him. Her brother was actually her lover. The Russian gal had gotten a large life insurance on him and cashed it in on the murder. His daughter ended up proving everything. Nothing but a scam.
