I attended a benefit shoot in Wamego Kansas for a forum member of www.ksccw.com and his wife as she was diagnosed with cancer. The shoot was put together to give them funds for their medical bills and to show them the overwhelming support of their local shooting community.
Based on my experience it was fantastic to see the turnout and how nice every shooter was. It was great meeting members of the forum, putting a face to the name. I learned from this that shooters are some of the most giving, fun loving, and supportive people, especially of their own.
We raised $9,611.50 for the family, and came away with life long friendships.
We completed IDPA style events, pictures can be found here: http://www.kansaslan.com/phpAlbum/main.php?cmd=album&var1=FreeTrapper+Benefit+Shoot/

It was held at Defense Midwest, they had a great facility. I had a blast, not to mention I'm totally sold on IDPA now.

Just look at arfcom, we can really pull together for a good cause.

Just have to look over the asshats to see the good.

Very nice.

I have seen acts of generosity from every day people here. It is what keeps me here and it makes me proud of my fellow gun owners.

I have noticed the same thing.
If it were not true, it is likely I would not still have such an interest and passion for the activity.
Shooting is great, the people are generally top notch.

There are a lot of great people in Kansas. I can't count the number of times I've been having a shitty day, and someone will just do some small act of kindness and totally lift me out of it, and puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day.
