Sitting on the rocks, looking at the Puget Sound. Drinking a Kokanee from a can.

No 'guard rails' just mother nature. Wife's foot for you foot freaks:

Let's see if my Nikon binoculars will work with my point and shoot camera:

Sunset approaches; the magic hour:

Holy shit! Did you see that? (camera makes it look far away, but it wasn't!)

There it is again! The "pooohhhhh" sound of the blowhole releasing air, was awesome!)

A couple more go by, we were only part of a handful to witness this:

Sunset continues:

The sun retreats, nestling into the mountains.

The next day, at another area:

Tons of Driftwood:

pretty flowers for the chicks:

Spotted this a long ways off.... Used the 10x50 nikon binocs plus camera to zoom in.

A little closer... it's hard to keep steady... shaking....

He decided to buzz the tower!

view from atop Mt. Constitution of the San Juan Islands:

Mt. Baker:

Very cool, I'm jealous.

I've only been here about a year and I haven't done as much exploring as I would like. I did manage to see real live jellyfish for the first time just last weekend...

Whereabouts did you go if I may ask?

The orcas were awesome.

That splash was unfortunately the "end" of the orca completely breaching... it literally jumped out of the water like a Sea World show, twice!

Great pics.  One of the best day trips I ever took was taking an extra day before some dealer training in Bellingham to catch an early AM ferry over to the Olympic peninsula.  I spent the whole day driving around and over the top.  Giant spruce forests, glaciers, mountain lakes - each more gorgeous than the last - snow on the top of the mountain, driftwood covered beach reached only after a hike through an awesome rainforest, and the sunset on the western coast, with its amazing rock formations standing like towers against the sea.

What a great trip that was.  I definitely want to go back.  And honestly, if the Seattle area wasn't cool and rainy most of the time, I'd probably move there.

Yeah, My aunt has a house in the Puget sound. Quiet cove, right near deception pass. I as a Long islander i am good in boats but all we see around here are sea gulls and regular fish. I went out in the sound in a rowboat and turned right around after about 30 minutes. First i got accosted by Seals. Scared the shit out of me. Tehy stuck their black heads up  out of the water and started barking. Never saw one in the wild before. Then a little distance off i saw "blow hole" spray like you saw, i dont know what it was but i didnt want to find out in a small boat. Plus, if you fall in the water in the puget sound you'll die of hypothermia in 20 minutes. Fuck DAT shit! but i fetched teh crab nets and had huge crab soup for dinner.

Where exactly were you? my ship used to dock at indian island to take on fuel and the wife and i went to port angeles and port townsend (north eastern most point on the penensula maybe?) all the time when i was stationed in bremerton. Townsend has a really cool decomissioned shore battery right at the tip of the penninsula that you can check out. it's beautiful up there.

edit cause i got the town names screwed up.
