Taking the other thread and doing just the opposite, here goes:

1. AR15s. Most variants. One exception is an AR that has a naked barrel (no flash hider or muzzle brake). Good looks, decent reliability, good round (.223), excellent modularity, excellent ergos.

2. FALs. Fantastic package, might be better than AR. Excellent reliability, good ergos, sledge-hammer round (.308), good looks, just now starting to have stuff developed for it (thank, DSA).

3. M1A. The one I have is virtually the same my dad carried in Vietnam. Save for the forged receiver and bayonet lug, is the same thing, more or less.

4. HK91/93 and their clones. No experience with them, but they look sweet and can't be half-bad with so many countries using them in their armed services.

5. SKS. Yes, the SKS. As reliable as a shovel and as accurate you need to be out to 150 yards.

6. 10/22. I've got 2,000 rds. through mine and have not touched it once. No jams, no problems, no cleaning. If the world fell apart and anarchy was everywhere (SHTF), simply cut the stock off and put the little Ruger in your backpack with a brick of .22.

7. Sig Pistols. My two are perrty nice (229 & 239 in .40)
