I plan on buying a new pair of boots soon.  They'll probably be Danners or Georgias.  My question is how much Thinsulate should I get?  I plan to wear them year-round here in Boise which means 90s in the summer and 20s/30s in the winter with walking/standing in the snow while hunting.  Should I get 200?  Perhaps uninsulated with heavy socks in the cold?

I have a pair with 400gr of thinsulate, and they do fine for me. I know I don't have to tell you this, but I will anyway (or my conscience will get me); make sure they have either a gore-tex or Sympatex liner as well. I did try a pair of boots that were 100% nylon uppers, and the tongue was so stiff with all that insulation that after lacing them up, I couldn't bend them at all. Since then, I wear only boots with all-leather uppers.

Living in Idaho, the only boot you should even be seriously considering is the Danner Ft Lewis boot.
