so i want a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 GI model but i can't afford to buy one.  i've got some extra guitars and whatnot i'd love to unload for a 1911.

should i trade one or both guitars?

keep guitars and save for 1911?

stuff i've got to trade and/or sell

1) 50th anniversary Squire (Fender) Stratocaster tobacco sunburst color w/ rosewood fretboard

mine is exactly as the above picture, but not an american standard Fender (it's the cheaper "Squire by Fender").

i'd be willing to include this Peavy Rage 158 amplifier:

and this Dunlop "crybaby" wah-wah pedal:

2) Ovation Tangent all black w/ super shallow body and built in chromatic tuner.  Ovation hard case is included.

poll coming...

eta: poll is in, but i forgot to add the option for "trade/sell both the Ovation and the Stratocaster".  oh well

i'm a former musician with about $10,000 worth of guitars, amps, and boutique pedals
that have been sitting in my closet for the last 2.5 years.  i would love to part with most of it
for firearms, but the market for high end musical instruments is not what it used to be and i
am not going to take pennies on the dollar of what it is worth.

i think trading everything pictured above for a new or like new GI model SA 1911-A1 would be a fair trade.  retail value on my guitars and such when purchased new was about $700ish, if memory serves

You only need one guitar, and Ovations are fugly, so...

Ide sell the electric stuff... If the SHTF power might be out and you would still have a musical entertainment device that has internal amplification.

You will also need to put on an eotech or aimpoint, laser, flashlight, string speed winder, pic magazine, and bolt face sticker to make it a proper tacticool acoustic

sell them all, get a gun, save up for a good guitar.

They won't be outlawing guitars until 2013.

I wouldn't sell the Anniversary Strat unless you really don't like the guitar much, but the Tangent, Rage and Crybaby aren't worth much.
Whenever selling gear you take a loss regardless so if your willing it will bring some money. The 50th Anniversary Strat is worth the most of course, but certainly not going to get what you payed.
I took a serious bath on a Triton Classic I sold recently on Craigslist, but electronic workstations loose there value real fast compared to guitars.

I'd trade pretty much anything for guns.

+1 ... the Squire and Peavey probably won't fetch too much ... you may get $300 or so for the Ovation. If it's taking up space and you have better gear then by all means, sell it and get a new gun.

Get the 1911.

The market is still strong on rare musical instruments the stuff you have is fairly common so get the gun before you cant.

We are not talking about some crazy vintage stuff then I may say something else.

Unless you plan to bash the zombies over the head with it, trade one or more for a gun.

BTW you are going to have to sell all those items to buy one 1911 judging by market value for what they go second hand.

When you get new gear get a USA Fender.

Its pretty much what I did, sold all my squire beginner stuff and got pro level stuff.
