Diversity-meaning different or divided.
In the turn of the century(1900), white European settlers where so easily able to defeat Native Americans(or Indians for those of you from Arkansas) not only because they posessed firearms, but because the Native Americans were disorganized due to cultural differences, morals, and language. Simply using this example, one must see how embracing this way of thinking will certainly lead to our demise as a nation. This is not to say that we should turn away people of color or those who are different, but we must all understand that if we become(as we are) a nation of tribes who cannot communicate or possibly comprehenend each other's beliefs or values, then how can we be one nation undivisable under God? Immigrants have come here since the beginning to better themselves, escape tyranny, or religious persecution. If you cannot embrace the Judo-Christian foundation that made the country great, then maybe you should leave. Again, this is not an assault on immigrants and people of color, but just remember, if you have come here for any of the reasons previously mentioned, in order to make your dreams reality, you must speak our language, respect our laws, culture, and way of life. To do anything less will only result in creating the nightmare you left behind. Look forward, not back, we are not a nation in retreat. This is the United States of America-the greatest nation of the face of the earth. |

Whatever.
I don't give a rats behind about the language. One could argue that those in Arkansas or New York don't speak much American. Who cares except Americans who unlike the rest of the world don't learn additional languages. I don't care if you respect the laws either. Just know that if you violate them you're going to jail just like all the other criminals born here, might give you a chance to learn some English. Culture in America? We have culture? Are you sure [:D]. Way of life - just what does that mean? If it means getting on welfare/unemployment, pumping out a handful of kids, drinking beer, eating pizza, smoking like a '73 Pinto, and having an early death due to a heart attack then you're welcome to it. I'm more worried about Americans. |

I enjoy the fact that folks from Arkansas and New York speak very differently! We all sound different from California, as well.
But we never had any problems when it came to fighting common enemies, unlike the American Indian tribes. If they knew then, what they know now, I am most certain they would have met the Mayflower on the beach and murdered everyone of those Pilgrims, and sent their scalps back to the Old World as a warning! Hey Gunsnob,
Some of what you say makes sense. But then again 7 of the 10 things that the KKK preaches as their primary beliefs sound pretty good too. It's the other three that leave the door open for something scary. Speaking as a Cherokee/white guy, whose girlfriend is black/hispanic, I fully agree with the concept of mixtures of cultures and races. I just don't believe in it being forced on anyone (not that you are preeching that but your on the edge) The thing that I do have a problem with is your reference to people either becoming Christian or they can leave. This point is insane. This country was started by a bunch of guys on the premise that there would be no such thing as persecution for religious beliefs,,, and now you are trying to do it. YOU need to spend some time and think about this before you ask RAF to do anything. Cause if you are unwilling to tolerate a jew next door or a Moslim down the street then this Christian will not tollerate your hypocritical ass. If, on the other hand, I've read your post incorrectly,,, just ignore that last paragraph [:D] Now I've got to get to bed and get some sleep. I promised the girlfriend that I'd help decorate a float tomorrow for the MLK parade. Goodnight and have a great weekend. |

Raf,
Only responding to the labeling that you brought about. It's all good, brother. Just take a look around, be open to other's opinions. Maybe you don't see a problem, but some of us do. [rolleyes] If you actually read, and comprehend, his thread, the point is that we need to be E Pluribus Unum, not "celebrating diversity" in order to be strong. America is well established today compared to the Nineteenth Century when Indians were driven from their lands. People coming here today move into communities with social and governmental systems completely developed. There should be no confusing this fact among immigrants and acclimating to laws and language and economics should be part of the process. Cultural diversity is not going to be a downfall in a society with a strong infrastructure as in America. Social breakdown in our capitalistic system is also unlikely as long as people wish to work and earn a better way of life. Our Armed Forces, Law Enforcement, State and Local Governments, and Criminal Justice systems work pretty well keeping most people in line.
It's the Legislators and Politicians you have to worry about! |

cultural diversity
It's just the same, tired old liberal dogma that used to be called set-asides, quotas, etc. and is used to keep voters on the plantation. In CA the Regents of the Univ. of CA voted to allow aliens (of certain qualifications) to attend UC schools at the reduced tuition of residents who are citizens. That's $11K per semester subsidy. This is not available to aliens from any of the other 49 states. Sorry BTW, if you want to know what culture is in America, it's FREEDOM. Our culture begins and ends with FREEDOM. That's easy to take some pride in. Let others quibble about their cuisine, their music, their art, their vast idiosyncracies. Nothing wrong with that. |

The illegals coming over the board that cause most of these threads by taking the low wage jobs, speaking "that" language, and listening to "their" music love that freedom as much as "we" do. The liberals that were born and bred here in the major urban areas are the ones who are always voting against individual freedoms and for more government. |
