I am cross-posting this to a few different freedom-oriented bulletin boards and emailing to a few, so If I'm unfamiliar to you I'd like to say hi I'm Erick, but put introductions aside for a minute. First this I am not some whiny bitch complaining about naughty cursewords or violence in music rational people like most of us can accept these things, as fictional or done for effect, communism however is unaceptable. This band Rage against the Machine is one i have been listening to since I was about 13 when they first came around, they have been very popular for the 10 yr duration of their career (though they are broken up as a band as of a few months ago, it looks like their message and their activism are living on strong) flash forward ten years later to yesterday when I discovered what they truly are all about. I was listening to one of their cds and heard something that made me actually say out loud to myself "He didn't just say that did he?" So I ventured to their website www.ratm.com to see if I could find lyrics, well no such luck but the opening page made trying to figure out what that lyric was unimportant and made me realize just
how unobservant I had been for a long time not to have noticed this. The calls to free convicted cop-killers didn't shock me that much in this day, neither did the activism calendar listing all kinds of anti-death-penalty protests anti-INS protests, what shocked me was the suggested reading section and the message forums. The message forums are the most frightening part, Karl Marx being listed as suggested reading is nothing really that new to the entertainment industry.  Most all of the messages wrote appear to be from teenage to young twenty-somethings like myself who will have handles like "commie" or "socialist4life" who are VERY VOCAL and actually quite articulate about saying they want to stop capitalism and bring about worldwide socialism with a violent revolution, they are particularly offended by the idea of people working hard for their share of the unfairly distributed wealth (How can you sleep at night with thousands of dollars in the bank when a bunch of lazy non-hackers are starving or don't have internet access?) Another topic has been the recent school shooting in Kali ("He was just a kid who did something in the heat of the moment, and besides he probably regrets it already") I have a list of some of the worst IMO excerpts at home and will post later if you want to see some of it without wading through thousands of messages.

Now you may say this is just a bunch of dope-smoking corduroy and rope-sandal wearing college kids and what the hell can they do. That would be my typical reaction, but if you just think about it for a second considering I have been looking at the forum since last night and I can already tell it's way bigger than AR15.com's and somebody just said we have 5k members here, And if you think it's all just talk, kids trying to be all "hip" and "wordly" by loving commies, gays and murderers and hating people with money REMEMBER like it or not in not too long of a time us twenty-somethings and the college-kids WILL BE INHERITING THE COUNTRY, and China former USSR NAZI germany, all started with pseudo-intellectual probably outcast types "just talking"

Lastly, since this board is so big, I would like to see it right up there with democratunderground as a forum full of uninformed dangerous people that need to be infiltrated (I've seen only 4 maybe 5 posters on our side). If you do choose to troll like I have, I offer this as advice warning or whatever, a lot of you are under the impression that feds read everything posted on all BBs, I have no doubt in my mind that they do read some as well they SHOULD, but seriously you all know that they cannot read everything, there is magnitudes too much, this is why I am still carefully considering  possibly reporting to the FBI or Secret Service some particular messages I found that were wrote recently, that could be considered as conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to incite violence/riot.

flame away if you like if you think I'm just F.O.S. but I consider myself to be a somewhat intelligent person who sees a real threat forming, and even if I'm wrong it's better to overreact than not to at all.

BTW I am ErickAR15 over there.

BTW2 Just heard from a co-worker This is RUMORED keep in mind and I can't find any verification but the rumor is that one of the band members VANDALIZED THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL WITH A SPRAY PAINTED "F____ THE MILITARY" Anyone heard this?? I can't find any info searching the internet, Is it BS???

DAMN! that was a long post.

Where've you been man?  RATM is sooooo blatantly socialist!  [:D]  Just joking, I found out a couple years ago when someone told me they had seen some band member wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with 'COMMIE' on the front.

I'm glad I don't like their music, it's much easier to 'boycott' them that way [:D]

The very name implies they are anti-anti-anti.
I have a few of there cd`s and believe it or not I listen to a couple of their songs on the way to uspsa matches, it starts the drive needed for some competition shooting. Very angry music. Grateful Dead on the way home.

Hey, you don't have to boycott their music...just don't buy their CDs...
DL 'em free...after all, they're socialists, so they shouldn't WANT the royalties anyway, right?

Yeah, they're dumbass punks who, still being in their early 20's, still know it all.  Zach DeLaRocha is a Maoist idiot who supports the Shining Path.  Tom Morello complains that "you don't know what racism is like until you are a black man walking across the courtyard at Harvard."

Well, 'scuse the fuck outta me O downtrodden one, but I didn't get into Harvard and apparently your being black didn't keep you out, either.  You get no sympathy from me.

But -

their music RIPS.

It would seem that RATM has used the perfect propaganda ploy.  They claim to be "raging against the machine," yet they are an instrument of the "machine."  These idiotic tools don't realize that their little minds have been bleached and they are being used.

Joseph Goebbels would be proud...

And yes, they do rock.

Rage's first album was one of the all time great debut albums ever. They truly charted new musical ground.

My gripe with them, and why I'd NEVER buy another thing from those whiney little bitches is this. They do nothing but rip on the U.S. or the "Evil Empire" is they call it. They seem to think this is THE land of injustice. They write song after song after song about how the U.S. is the most evil nation on the planet.

At the same time profiting like mad under our system, by selling albums right and left. Wouldn't that be considered blood money to such "heros" of the downtrodden? Well I guess they can make an exception when their own profits are on the line. Yeah, the U.S. is SO evil.......BUT we'll look the other way when it comes time to profit under the American system.

In addition to that, you'ld think Rage, if they get upset at the American system, would CLEARLY see other systems around the world that are MUCH worse, and sing about them. No, they really don't. Why bother pointing the finger at say, Rwanda for genocide that occured within the last couple of years, when you can STILL bitch about our slave owning past 200 years ago?

If they're SO concerned about injustice, my I suggest a list of subjects for Rage to write about in the future. A list that's FAR more important than 90% of their lyrics to date.

Rwanda(and continued mass murder ALL over the African continent), Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Hitler, Yugoslavian war crimes, the murder and rape rate in Columbia and South Africa, human rights abuses in China, Indonesia and North Korea, Joseph Stalin & his 10,000,000 "purged citizens"......on and on and on.

No, it's just more profitable to whine about the U.S., despite that glaring and much more noteworthy examples of suffering and injustice all over the rest of the planet. Plus, if they were actually to write about some of these other nations, it wouldn't be politically correct since many of them are inhabited by blacks, latinos and that wouldn't be right to criticize them, the downtrodden. Give me a break. Hey Rage, can you say "hypocracy"?

If you want to listen to music the is entirely devoted to pointing out exactly how corrupt, racist and evil America is, while turning a blind eye to REAL examples of the same thing currently happening ALL over the rest of the world, Rage is for you.

If you actually think for yourself, pay attention to current international affairs, have a basic background in history, I think you'll find Rage Against The Machine to be unlistenable.

With Rage, it's like standing on the edge of an already roaring forest fire, that's consuming everything in it's path and listening to someone repeatedly bitch and whine to you about the fire hazard your lit cigarette poses. Rage's short-sightedness and tunnel vision FULLY discredits them.

Rage SUCKS.

Rage has put out some good music but I can't and don't agree with their socialist agenda.

As one of my friends says,"Their my favorite angry band".

Fortunately, I haven't bought much of their music.

I guess i'll just stick to Fishbone and Body Count. Although Fishbone has kinda mellowed out a bit.

What they REALLY are are noisy untalented shitbirds. That first album sucked, as does all of their pathetic noise. Tom Morello couldn't play his way out of a fu
Their first tour t-shirts had Che on the front and how to make Molotov cocktails on the back. Too bad the feckless kids in the audience didn't swig their beer bottles empty, follow the recipie, and throw them lit at the band. I hope they all O.D. or get HIV soon. [sniper]

I, like most, do not listen to their lyrics, just the music.
I know they are liberal hypocrites. How can they be R-A-M when they sold out to the machine, Sony, one of the biggest multi-nationals in the world. It would probably blow them away to see how much their corporate masters oppress.

Corporate commies, much like the Clash of 18-20 years ago.  "They think it's funny . . . turning rebellion into money."  As noted, work for Sony, and I am sure they don't do anything to bite the hand that feeds.

Good grooves on powerful first album, ever since then each album is a little weaker.

Now the songs are just, "What funny noise can Tom make on his guitar for this song?"  Then they build some repetitive riff around it.

The rantings by the "singer" are monotonous.  That guy was lucky to be in the right place at the right time as he sure has no talent in writing, can't sing a note, and his rapping is substandard.

They did cause problems at the Democrap convention, I gotta give them that.
