I invite you to read this.  The author is someone I am familiar with, a 25 year-old teacher at a catholic school.  He used to write at the now-defunct Themestream.  Really good stuff.  

What happened to the crisis that was our medical insurance industry? Whence the lock-boxes? Did enough money sprinkle down from the World Trade Center to take care of our budget problems? Is Chandra what’s-her-name less dead than before?

Of course not. The only thing that’s changed is now we actually have news on the national level that fits the cookie-cutter grandeur the media serves everything with.
