Birmingham police say teen's shooting was justifiable homicide

Birmingham, Alabama, police today said that a 17-year-old killed in shooting Tuesday night was trying to rob someone when he was killed.
Romell Wright, of Birmingham, and a juvenile whose name has not been made public tried to rob a couple in the 200 block of Munger Avenue just before 11 p.m.
When Wright pulled a gun, one of the robbery victims pulled his own gun "and a shootout ensued," police spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams,. Jr, said in a press statement.
Wright was shot and killed.
The shooting has been ruled a justifiable homicide and no arrests or charges have been filed in this case.
Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, shots were fired near an assortment of balloons that marks the spot where Wright was killed, police said. No one was injured and police are investigating whether that incident was related to Wright's death.
