Birmingham, Alabama, police today said that a 17-year-old killed in shooting Tuesday night was trying to rob someone when he was killed.

Romell Wright, of Birmingham, and a juvenile whose name has not been made public tried to rob a couple in the 200 block of Munger Avenue just before 11 p.m.

When Wright pulled a gun, one of the robbery victims pulled his own gun "and a shootout ensued," police spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams,. Jr, said in a press statement.

Wright was shot and killed.

The shooting has been ruled a justifiable homicide and no arrests or charges have been filed in this case.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, shots were fired near an assortment of balloons that marks the spot where Wright was killed, police said. No one was injured and police are investigating whether that incident was related to Wright's death.

Birmingham police say gang-banger fuckass's career was cut short by CCW licensee defending himself and wife during an armed robbery attempt...no word yet on whether the defending citizen will be presented with good Samaritan award

Funny how 17 year old gang bangers who wind up ventilated after trying to rape, rob, or murder someone are always conveniently referred to as "teen" in the big fat headline.

I'd be fine with it if that is how it was across the board...only when the 17 year old is a fucking scumbag who's criminal career is cut short by someone defending themselves are they a "teen".

...Just like the thousands of 17-22 year old gang banging "children" who are tragically killed by firearms every year.

You can bet this fuck will be counted the next time the brady jerkoffs pay someone to recalculate that fucked up stat.

Yeah and when the anti gun folks get ahold of it he will be a child killed by a gun. They try to make the numbers look like thousands of kids die each year by guns. A 19 year old gang banger is not a child.
