Google exactly as written and click "I'm Feeling Lucky".

I have used both with no problems. ClamWin is another one I have had good luck with.

AVG is the Cadillac of anti-virus software.

Me too, until it wouldn't install on one computer and wouldn't update on another.  Oh, and before it stopped updating, the link scanner was causing Firefox to crash.  Now I use Avast.

I've used all 3 and prefer avast.

My PC got infected once and actually broke AVG.  I put avast on and it cleaned it, so I've kept using it.  I also have one laptop that already had avast with zero problems and one laptop with antivir...it's ok but seems to boot up a little slower than the other one and their hardware specs are pretty similar.

Also, at work, when a users PC at work gets infected (we run symantec endpoint protection 11, which is crap) I usually have to put avast on them to clean them off then uninstall it.

Maximum PC also did an antivirus comparison.  Avast caught and stopped everything but they said it was a resource hog.  But honestly I don't notice much difference.

I used AVG for all of about two days...I put it on my (then new) Vista desktop and I had problems getting it to run properly. I didn't like the user interface either...

I'm guessing AVG has gotten the Vista issues worked out by now (it's been a few years since I last used it), but I like the Avast user controls the best. Avast has always served me well, no reason to switch now....

Same here.  I used AVG trouble free for years.  Then one day things started fucking up.  Went with AntiVir and things have been A-OK.  The AVG must have been a virus or something.

I use this new one called AntivirusXP 2009.  Before I bought it I had like 219 infections.  I still have a lot of popups which is odd.

Hah just kidding I know a couple of people that fell for the Antivirus XP or Antivirus Pro 2009 spyware.
Just cleanded that shit off of my Aunts computer.

Used to have AVG, then got a virus.

AVAST for the win. Free, autoupdate, low overhead, and it actually works. two years virus free with AVAST.

Avast is very robust, yet won't bog down your system.

Cheaply built, overpriced, unsatisfying and laughed at by the rest of the world?
