by Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal

Thursday March 12, 2009, 8:03 PM

A Jersey City man is accused of trying to break into a Jersey City home with a pitch fork early yesterday evening, police reports said.

Gregory Trowell, 47, of Montgomery Street in Jersey City, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief, reports said.

Two officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress on Trenton Street near Waldo Avenue at 7:33 p.m. and found a pitch fork wedged between a window and a sill, reports said.

Police searched the area and arrested Trowell, who met the description provided by a witness.
