We have County Commisioners here elected by district, and what used to be called a "County Executive" who is elected at large and serves four years. Several years ago the State Legislature voted to allow the title to be changed to County Mayor by Counties if they choose. In the County where I live it's expected to be a highly contested race next year (August 2010) and a bunch of people are already making their plans to run. |

We have them here on Long Island ( Nassau & Suffolk County Executives ) and they probably make more than most Governors
Probably around $175,000 plus perks Car and Driver etc. |
