They're great for shooting sideways.  If I were able to choose the model of 9mm to be shot at me, the Jennings might be a good choice.  I have one, as do all my friends.  We get together once a year to do a gangsta shoot complete with MD 20/20.  You would (or maybe wouldn't!!!) be surprised how hard it is to go through 50 rds. with one of those.  They are about 90-95% reliable for the round in the chamber!!

If I were ever unfortunate enough to be in a gunfight I could only wish that my adversary was brandishing a Jennings. At best he would only get one off before the thing jammed.

In this case maybe not. Keep a clean one around and a rag - the perfect dump gun.

If you're intent on buying a Jennings you'd best buy two complete pistols.  Use one as a shooter and one for spare parts.  Every part WILL break.

Forget about any kind of reliable feeding or accuracy too.

Some really cheap guns are of questionable quality. The Jennings is NOT. It is unquestionably a true POS.

*edited because I confused the Jennings with the Lorcin, another unquestionable POS.*

LMAO. I got one for free. While the guy was showing me how to field strip it, the freekin firing pin broke. LOL. So he gave it to me. A little .380. Shot it a few times since I replaced the firing pin..no failures...but what a POS.

Total POS, I had a .380 Model #48 a long time ago, the receiver cracked.

Damn!!!  Whoever bought that Jennings on the auction got ripped!!!  A pawn shop around here carries them and they are only $99.  A friend of mine bought one a few years ago and tried to tell me that it was the best pistol he had ever shot.  Needless to say, it was the only one he had ever shot.

I used to have this recurring dream where someone would be chasing me, and I have a pistol but no matter how hard I try I just cannot pull the trigger.

Until I actually shot a friends Jennings 9mm I thought this could only happen in a dream. The pistol was bought new, but on most of my shots I almost had to use two hands to pull the trigger. You may think I'm making this up, but I promise it's the truth.

Even when I was able to fire it, the accuracy was so awful (probably due to the Herculean trigger pull required) that you really would be better off throwing it at someone (it is a very heavy pistol).

I never realized that someone could manufacture such an awful excuse for a weapon, but the Jennings is truly the worst gun I have ever laid my hands on. Stay far, far away.

Maybe they do that on purpose , to make sure the LEOS have that extra advantage.

I saw one at a range once that would pop of 2, 3, or 4 rounds at a time.  The guy thought it was neat.  When he pulled the trigger he had no idea how many shots it would zip off.

Couple years ago when the "gun buy back" craze was going around and they would give you $100 per gun, my friend and I were going to go buy a bunch of those Jennings 22 pistols for $69 and turn them in.  We never got around to it though.

Something I've been wondering:

How good is the Davis Derringer?  Is it still in POS territory, or is it worthwhile for deep concealment/last resort weapon?

I thought Jennings and Lorcin were basically the same? Or maybe one bought the other out?
