The NHL playoffs kicked off yesterday. So, which one do you pick to go all the way? Or which two teams will be in the final games to win the most coveted and historic trophy in Pro sports? http://nhlpa93.nhl94.com/teams/images/det.gif No doubt in my mind. Wings rock. HH |

My buddy is a HUGE Sharks fan, I have been giving him a hard time about his #1 seed team losing to the #8 seed Ducks.
They are always favored to win it all, and NEVER seem to pull the trigger. Ha ha. |

It's been the same story for years now. They remind me of the Ottawa Senators of a few years ago, when everybody kept picking them to win the Cup and they failed every year in the playoffs. |

As long as it's not anybody from Detroit, or Boston, I'm ok with anybody else winning.

The only good thing Detroit has is the Wings.
That being said, I hope they lose miserably. Not holding my breath though... |

The Ducks have a hot goalie right now and they have a ton of Stanley Cup Vets on that team. I think Detroit is in for a handful. I like Pittsburgh in the East.

Detroit isn't going to play like the choker Sharks, the Wings will park Holmstrom, Franzen, and Cleary right in front of Hiller from the get go, also the other Wings like Hossa, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, etc will be going to the net hard. Virtually the entire Wings team is Stanley Cup experienced and they do not make a lot of mistakes, they do the little things which Sharks did not do. The Wings coach Mike Babcock makes sure the Wings stay focused, one hell of a coach and the Ducks now it as he once coached them into the Stanley Cup. If the Ducks take a ton of penalties they are doomed, Detroit is too good on the power power as they have two steller PP units. Personally the Wings are too stacked for the Ducks, the Wings first 2 lines are as good as any in the league and extremely talented defensively plus the Wings will roll another 2 lines. The Wings tend to wear teams down this way, Pronger and Niedemyer just can't play that sort of minutes to cover all those lines. The Ducks are pretty much a one line team, which means they are going to be covered by either Datsyuk/Hossa/Holmstrom or Zetterberg/Franzen/Cleary on the front end and the back end will see Lidstrom/Rafalski or Lidstrom/Ericsson. Ericsson may be a rookie but damn that 6'5" rookie plays like a 10 year veteran, he plays a lot like Lidstrom in that he makes smart simple plays and is a tremendous passer. Not bad for a Center converted to Dman - I think Scotty Bowman had him changed - Scotty did it to another famous player in the past none other than Larry Robinson. |

$5 and a Carolina pick from the office hockey pool.
Go Carolina! |
