Guys,
    I'm looking into getting a Vector Uzi, and I know that for my business, I will be moving to Wilmington, NC within the next three years.  My question is, will I be able to retain my Uzi when I move to NC?  If not, I don't see a lot of use in getting one.  Thanks.

Either way, I would still buy one if you could toast. Shoot it until you have to move then store it out of state and just make trips to go 'play' every once in a while, or sell it for a profit when you move.

Here is Fayetteville our local sheriff will, on occasion, allow a Class 3 item (SBR, Suppressor or full auto).

Call the sheriffs office in Wilmington and test the waters.

Thanks, guys. Yeah I saw the NC NRA website, but "experimental purposes" kinda leaves a lot to the interpretation....  May just have to get one and leave it here at my parents' house... anyway, thanks again for the responses.  Guess I'll just have to call the sheriff/chief and get the lowdown.

I live in Wilmington,New Hanover County--and i can tell you if you don't have a machine gun when you move to new hanover you won't be getting one after you get here---the Sheriffs stance for years has been you don't need one--this has been passed down from admin to admin---so if you've got it when you get here and it's legal, your cool, and shoot all you want,and by all means invite me out to shoot it...i'll bring the ammo....Pender county next door is more good ole boy oriented and my friends over there can get them (if they're a good ole boy).....email me and i'll let you know what's going on in the shooting community around here.....Dick

As I understand it, NFA is legal in North Carolina for "Experimental" purposes, and you are supposed to have a letter from the Sheriff attesting to that fact.  For years, it was not enforced, then someone in the state admin got a bug up their butt and decided they will enforce it.  Then the question came up if the letter can be revoked by a new Sheriff or needs to be renewed.  

There is an association in NC that has almost succeeded in getting the Sheriff's letter part revoked.  Hopefully, within a few years, it will be.

It's a crapshoot.  The county I live in is anti-gun, so unless you happen to be buddies with the sheriff, forget it.  I've tried and been turned away.  Then again, I had a huge blowout with the bastards over pistol purchase permits--they only let you get two at a time while other counties give you five, ten, whatever.  The whole idea of letting the sheriff make and enforce the rules is completely asinine and dates back to 1913, a year when they didn't want "no niggers having no guns."  Sound familiar?  Now it seems, in addition to having no rights, I'm also a nigger as well.  At least in their eyes.

Some counties are better than others, but remember, NC is ridden with socialist apologists for some perceived racism of the past.  It appears to be only getting worse.  I'm planning on moving to a different state soon.  I can't stand the idiotic things being done in many places--the taxes just keep rising and everywhere I look there are illegal immigrants.  Not that I care about the latter, but it's the selective enforcement of the law that really upsets me here.  If you're black, you're still a second class citizen.  And some whites are more equal than others--native North Carolinians are preferred over anyone else.

I've  come to call it the New Jersey of the south.  But then again, it's all what county you live in.  Mine is a socio-fascist little police state.
